Most of the time you just 'know' stuff, you don't 'understand' it. 

Most impressive thing about understanding any concept is that you can teach it in most simple and feasible way.

Use Feynman Technique: 
- Learn a topic
- Write it in your own word
- Explain it to a 5 year old

Motivation is limited, Discipline is forever. If you can overcome the resistance to stop, you will find your motivation. 

Also, there are 3 type of Motivation: 

Motivation 1.0: NATURAL 
Drive by basic necessities like food and shelter

Motivation 2.0: EXTRINSIC 
Drive by Reward and Punishment 

Motivation 3.0 INTRINSIC 
You just enjoy doing the task, without any strings attached. 

Go for the 3.0!

Stop reacting immediately. Whenever you face any situation (tough or easy), just take a pause first. 

Practice to take a step back and process the situation, sometimes the best course of action is NO action at all. 

Be clear with your intentions. Your intentions drive your actions. 

Don't rely on the chance/luck, design your own life. If you plan properly, with concrete intentions, you'll get the results.

If you stop doing the wrong things and stop focusing on the negativity, then you get the right results every single time. Break those bad habits, good habits will follow. 

And finally:

Nothing you do is legendary until your friends are there to see it. Value your relationship.

DON'T WRITE: 

- I have this qualification
- I have that experience
- I have these skill sets

All of this doesn't matter, if you mention these things then you'll definitely lose the opportunity. 

INSTEAD, DO THIS:

- Find out what they do (Research)
- What kind of hiring process do they have
- Connect with the people associated with the company (LinkedIn)
- Dig deeper and Find out their CULTURE, BELIEF SYSTEM & VALUES. 

Then MATCH yourself to that CONTEXT. 

Also, Don't reach HR (they get 100s of mail, can't respond to all). Go for the Hiring Manager (Greater chance of reply).

If you follow these steps then you're definitely going to get hired. OR at least your mail going to get a reply. 

ENDING OF YOUR MAIL

Always try to end your E-mail with a QUESTION! This will compel them to RESPOND. (Again! Getting a rejection is better than No response)

FOLLOW-UP 

If they still don't reply, then in 3-4 days send them a Follow-up mail. Follow-up ONLY once. 

- Subject: Gentle reminder
- Always assume that they have read your first mail, craft your mail in that context. 

- Start with, "I am sure you've read the e-mail, maybe you're hard-pressed for time for a response. Just sending this e-mail again so that whatever is it that you wanted to respond to me back then you can do it right now. I'm just helping you bump this up in your inbox."

- Optimistically, there's only a 10% chance of getting a reply in case of a cold e-mail.

If still don't get a response? 

- Don't sweat it, move on. You've given your best. (You can approach another person in the same company).

A good email consists of three things: 
1. Subject ✅
2. Headline ❗ 
3. Body

Just remember that Reading is a boring task and no one wants to read a long and dull mail. 

4 THINGS TO REMEMBER WHILE WRITING HEADLINE:

1. Keep language SIMPLE  
2. Build a PERSONAL connection
3. Immediately establish the PURPOSE & ASK
4. Ask should be UNIQUE

1. Keep language SIMPLE:

- So simple that a 5th grader should be able to understand it. No need to use profound language, your GOAL is to make your E-mail as readable as possible. 

2. Build a PERSONAL connection:

- First 2 to 3 lines should be dedicated to the person you're sending the mail to. 
- Can be a GENUINE comment on their work, the service they are providing, or the value they are adding. This also makes them believe that you did your homework. 

3. Immediately establish the PURPOSE & ASK:

- Should be CRISP and CLEAR
- First few lines should clearly tell the person what actions he/she have to take: Reply, Archive, Forward, or Just ignore. 
- Your GOAL is to get a Reply, not necessarily a YES. 

4. Ask should be UNIQUE

Template of the headline: 

"I am Emailing to _(CONTEXT/OBJECTIVE)_ , here's what I want from you _(ASK)_"

Remember: "If you don't ask, the answer is obviously NO!" So, you gotta ASK for that position you want, the job you want, or the hike you desired. 

A good email consists of three things: 
1. Subject
2. Headline
3. Body

SUBJECT LINES YOU SHOULD AVOID:

• Hey! Looking for a job
• Want to pick your brain
• Can I have some time of yours?
• Love your feedback

Literally, everyone is writing this. You don’t want to be like them.

TIPS FOR BETTER SUBJECT:

• Think about what can you write that just STANDS OUT.
• It can be on the edge of something that you don’t wanna say, can be risky but you should take the risk.
• It should be something that generates CURIOSITY (Ultimately they will Open the mail)

EXAMPLES:

• You got no idea how I got to know about you
• Hey! (That is such a cool surname)
• I know you’re busy, so here’s 10 points pitch

SUMMARY:

Write a unique subject line that makes them CURIOUS and makes them read your mail.

This month my Twitter growth was out of the roof. Thanks to all the followers and supporters. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 💙😇

But I did some things that lead to my growth, let me tell you about my Growth Hack.🌐📱

These were my stats just a couple of months ago. 🤐 So, how did I turn this around? 

By following some rules. 

1. Creating more, Consuming less. Trying to provide some sort of value with my tweets, also trying to solve problems in my niche.


2. Trying to understand trends in my niche.#PhD Plus engaging more with the people.

3. Trying to follow a niche instead of randomly shitposting (sometimes I Shitpost a little 🙄). 

4. 80/20 Balance of Valuable Posts and Shit Posts. 

5. Using tools like @typefullyapp or @NotionHQ for content creation. 


6. Not following F2F policy anymore. It was stupid.

7. Following accounts that genuinely resonate with me. 


8. Finding amazing people on this platform, understanding that relations you built over time do matter.:

1. Don't Overthinking about it, There are high chances that your supervisor won't forget you that easily. Most of the supervisor actually like when their students try to keep in touch with them. So, just type that e-mail and hit 'Send'! ✅

2. Share Publications and Articles you're currently reading. Tell them about the latest paper you've read and mention why you actually liked it. It will be a great ice breaker and he'll also get a good impression, it's a total win-win situation!

3. And it don't need to be an academic paper, you can also share new insights, blog posts, news articles, etc. 

From @jn_shipra 's experience, "good thing about good researchers is they cannot resist good science. Show them good science and they will most likely reply."

4. You can give him the biweekly or monthly weekly report in short 1-2 paragraphs.

5. Don't always have to share something, ask for the recommendation from your supervisor too. Obviously your supervisor have immense experience in the field and he can recommend you some valuable articles or posts.

6. Put the problems you're facing infront of them. Ask them to clarify your doubts about any topic and about the things you're unable to understand. (But make sure you've already tried your level best to solve that problem and only asking because you've hit that road block)

7. Catch-up about the time when you've attended some meeting or conference OR share some event that you two can attend together (preferably realated to academic)
