I used to think building a career was a solo-player #game.
It's hard to know if you're doing the right things or focusing on the right things to improve.
I could see other people getting better and it was so frustrating.
What did they know that I didn't?
One evening, I was playing a game with some friends one day.
It was a multiplayer game so we had to work together.
We were killing it, as in the bad guys of course.
We were encouraging each other, providing guidance, advising on the next play and sharing stories from previous experiences to help us navigate the current ones we face.
I realised that my friends were making me better at this game.
Their combined know-how, skills and support make me a better player. So, I wondered,
Now, what if I apply this same strategy to my #career?
And that's precisely what I did.
I found players at the same level as me in my career.
We connected now and again, shared insights taught each other skills and supported one another's work.
I could have found this on my own, perhaps.
But, I learnt more about my own game when I switched to multi-player.
