Today is Nikolaus Day in Germany and "kids"  👀 are excited because we're expecting a visit from "Nikolaus." 🎅🏼

The story dates back to Saint Nikolaus a bishop born in 270 AD in Patara (modern-day Turkey). He was known for secret gift-giving. Once he was him helping a poor man with dowries for his daughters, inspiring the spirit of giving. 🎁

Over time, Saint Nikolaus became a beloved figure celebrated for his compassion. His  day on December 6th became a german tradition of Nikolaustag, emphasizing good behavior and spreading joy. 🇩🇪🤗

On the night of December 5th, we clean our shoes or hang up stockings outside our doors, hoping that Nikolaus will come by during the night and fill them up with treats like chocolates, oranges, nuts, and small gifts. 🍊🍫

Nikolaus also visits Kindergardens and Schools - but he doesn't come alone! "Knecht Ruprecht" or "Krampus" joins him.  He is a frightening figure, reminding the naughty kids to behave. 😈

When I was a kid, you could get a small beating by him. 😳

We were definitley scared!!

So did I behave over the year - maybe.

But I definitely got the best gift ever.

As long as I could think Freedom was what I was looking for.

I refused to be bought as a child, I refused to do tasks I didn't find useful, I found my way around rules to be as free as possible.

As life moved on and I climed the corporate ladder, lifestyle creep got me.

I was locked in to my jobs.

Having a family & maintaining the hard earned living standard makes it even harder.

The decision to be made is:

• Will I become a soulless corporate drone?
• Will I be brave enough to expose myself to the world and embrace uncertanty?

With plenty of possibilities the internet provides and the new technological wave of AI, this is a good moment to make the jump.

So the decision is not

Freedom or Safety

but:

Convenience or Effort.

Last year my wife gifted me one of your more uncommon work. A drawing of a tiger, but not in the signature style. This Tiger, which I have named Tiago, is now watching over me daily; reminding me to be courageous.
