#1 Today’s existence of @NPR is thanks to the substantial government funding (via @CPBmedia) in its formative years. Despite assertions from NPR that a mere “less than 1%” of their annual budget comes from federal funding, their foundation was established it.
#2 “From its founding until the early 1980s, NPR was almost entirely dependent upon funding from the federal government through CPB. NPR steadily expanded its programming, staff, and size throughout the 1970s and 1980s…” influencewatch.org/non-profit/national-public-radio-npr/
#3 In 2015, the federal government provided 99% of @CPBmedia’s funds, and over 10% of university funding was tax-driven, assuming 3 out of 4 university stations were publicly funded. This totals 25% of taxpayer money for NPR stations. foxnews.com/politics/taxpayers-provide-more-than-25-percent-of-nprs-funding-analyst-says
#4 Despite millions of dollars from the federal government, the issue isn't the size of NPR's federal funding, but that it receives ANY at all while displaying a left-leaning bias. @NPR's reporting is partial against a large portion of the nation, yet it's funded by them.
#5 It is disturbing for a media organization to obtain federal funding — sourced from taxpayers — and then exhibit an obvious bias. @elonmusk rightfully labeled @NPR—they can yell and shout all they want, but this fact remains: NPR is a government-funded media group.
#6 During @realDonaldTrump's tenure, he advocated for the removal of funding for @CPBmedia, who also provides funds to @PBS. This context sheds some light on the persistent hatred directed towards President Trump from these government-funded media groups. twitter.com/kanekoathegreat/status/1646358712335093761
