You can then use the data to send more personalized email and SMS follow-ups from Sendlane.

Maximizing ConvertFlow and Sendlane Integration for Conversion Campaigns

Your abandonment strategy should be more than just email flows & retargeting ads.

In fact, it should begin BEFORE people even leave your store.

Here are 3 on-site exit-intent plays being run by @convertflow users to reduce:

First off, there are likely a few "common objections" shoppers have while browsing your store.

You should do all you can to:

1. Identify
2. Address

These objections at different funnel stages.

Anyway, back to what's working for ConvertFlow users.

We split abandonment into the three key areas previously mentioned:

• Browse
• Cart
• Checkout

The reasons people abandon at each stage are going to be pretty different. So, let's look at each one separately...

1/ Browse abandonment

❓ This is when someone is browsing your product page(s) and abandons before even adding something to cart.

They've shown interest in the product, but not enough to add it to cart.

Solution:

OPTION 1: Discount/Sale Reminder Popup

Trigger:
• Exit-intent
• IF on a PDP
• AND has 0 items in cart

Content:
• Remind of a discount/holiday sale
• Use believable urgency

CTA:
• Product they've been looking at with ATC button

OPTION 2: "Need help?" Survey Popup

Trigger:
• Same as above

Content:
• Ask if they need help
• Survey with your common objections

CTA:
• Different for each button (e.g. "Can't find what I'm looking for" might go to a quiz)

⚠️ Don't expect crazy high CVRs from either of these. Shoppers abandoning here are likely doing so for a more fundamental reason.

BUT:

We've seen some brands inc. add to carts by 30%+ 😎

So it's definitely worth a Hail Mary attempt. These people are only leaving anyway.

2/ Cart abandonment

❓ This is when someone abandons after adding an item to cart.

There's a lot more interest from these people. But, something put them off before checking out.

Solution:

Cart Reminder Popup

Trigger:
• Exit-intent
• 1 or more items in cart

Content:
• Remind of the product & key value props
• Address objections
• Show social proof

CTA:
• Push to checkout

✅ Shows viewer numbers (social proof)

✅ "Find local store" addresses objection of not seeing the ring in person before buying

3/ Checkout Abandonment

❓ This is when someone adds to cart, but then abandons after beginning the checkout process.

They likely really want the product. But, something put them off right at the last minute 😢

Solution:

Talk To Us Abandonment Popup

Trigger:
• Exit-intent
• URL contains "/your-checkout/"

Content:
• Lean on your support/sales team and offer a person to talk to

CTA:
• Click to call and/or live chat

Abandoning at the checkout could also be a price sensitivity issue. They really want it, but convinced themselves they can't afford it.

So, you could also push any split payment or BNPL options at this point.

3 On-site Exit-Intent Plays to Reduce Abandonment

At @convertflow, we recently helped a DTC furniture brand:

📈 Inc. opt-in rate on their welcome popup by 235% (2.3% → 7.7%)
🤓 while collecting purchase-intent data to use in future marketing campaigns

How?

Through collection-specific offers.

Here's the breakdown 👇

The Baseline

Standard practice with welcome offers is to just offer a sitewide discount in exchange for email address and/or phone number.

This was being done through a simple "$50 off first order" offer.

(Note: We switched out the logo in order to not reveal the brand yet)

The Hypothesis

The original converted at 2.3%—not great. We figured we could get this up by making the offer:

• More relevant
• More compelling

Creating different offers for the brand's various store collections might be a good place to start.

The Experiment

We created a new popup specifically for a top-selling sofa collection line called "Feathers."

When someone is browsing Feathers, they get a welcome offer specific to this collection:

The great thing about specific offers like this is that you can tweak:

• Messaging & copy
• Imagery
• Even the offer itself for each collection (X% discount vs. $ off vs. free gift, etc.)

The Result

The original generic discount popup converted at 2.3%. While this new, more relevant offer converts at 7.7%—a 3.3x increase 🔥

But, that's not even the best part...

A collection-specific opt-in means the brand knows more about what the shopper is interested in—valuable data when you have a broad furniture catalog like this.

This means:

📧 Segmented welcome flows
👕 More relevant product recs
🚀 Increased revenue from subscribers

The Next Steps

All in all, this was deemed highly successful by the brand 🙌

We're currently rolling it out across other collections and experimenting with offers.

⚠️ It's key to TEST first. Even if subscribe rate goes up for you, make sure you're also driving more revenue!

The Popup Strategy That Drove +235% Email Subscribers For This DTC Furniture Brand

1/ Quiz → solution-oriented bundle

The key here is to be PRESCRIPTIVE. You need to position your quiz around a problem, then recommend bundles to solve it.

Works really well in fitness, supplements, skincare, beauty, etc. Anything that has a "consultative" element to it.

They sell fitness resistance bands. But rather than just trying to shift individual products, they bundle items together into "programs" that address specific needs and goals.

The quiz simply connects people with the right bundle:

2/ One-click "add to cart" upsell popup

This is a recommendation overlay popup that triggers as soon as a shopper clicks the add to cart button:

This works well if you have products in a collection that logically go well together. E.g. furniture in a similar style, pillows to go with a mattress purchase, accessories for a laptop, etc.

⚠️ Make sure you TEST this idea to ensure it is affecting rev per session positively.

They sell stuffed toys and memorabilia modeled on your real-life pet (really cool product FYI). If you add a golf club head cover to cart, you see this recommendation popup:

3/ Free shipping progress bars

Most stores will have a minimum order threshold before free shipping kicks in.

A progress bar:

🚚 Visualizes how close someone is to free shipping
💰 Encourages them to add more to cart as they watch the bar increase

They sell weight loss and nutrition supplements and I love the "double hitter" idea of their in-cart progress bar.

Add $20 more to get free shipping. But get to $125 cart value and you get a bonus gift, too:

I love this product quiz from @animalbiome. It does a phenomenal job at:

Here's a breakdown of how it all works 👇

Some background context:

Animal Biome is all about animal gut health. They sell gut tests for cats and dogs as well as supplements and guidance based on the test results.

This leads us into the first thing that's great about this quiz...

🔥 The burning question(s)

"Is my pet healthy? Could there be something wrong I don't know about? What preventions can I take?"

Pretty much EVERY pet owner will have these questions. The Animal Biome quiz offers to provide some answers via a simple two-minute assessment.

Another great thing about this home step on the quiz is the progress bar at the top:

Right off the bat, this clarifies that there are just a few short steps to get through.

But, it doesn't just say "Step 1, 2, 3..."

Each one has a topic. This gives me confidence that we're going to get a comprehensive assessment and reliable results 🤓

Move on to the next step and we already hit another great aspect of this quiz:

⚡️ Personalization

First thing I'm asked is my pet's name:

All of a sudden, I'm not being asked questions about A pet. I'm being asked about MY pet 😻

It all makes me much more likely to continue the quiz, complete it, and (crucially) pay attention to the results.

Finally, let's talk about how the quiz:

💡 Solves a specific problem

After completion, you're taken to a pretty masterful recommendation page.

Firstly, your answers are reflected back to you (confirming the problem/problems):

Then, there's effectively a personalized prescription given on exactly what to do next.

It's all about solving the specific problem brought up during the quiz.

Of course, this includes a product recommendation 😉

As if that wasn't enough, there are also sections with:

🤩 Reviews (personalized to come from other cat owners)
❓ FAQs (to explain and overcome any common objections)

All in all, this is (IMO) a pretty epic example of a recommendation quiz done right 👏
