What's New in Node.js v20

Generally, here are 9 HTTP request methods:

❯ GET
❯ PUT
❯ POST
❯ HEAD
❯ TRACE
❯ PATCH
❯ DELETE
❯ OPTIONS
❯ CONNECT

HTTP defines a set of request methods.

Each request method indicates a different action.

Sometimes we call them HTTP verbs.

Each of them implements a different logic.

📮 GET

Use the GET method to get data from a server.

The GET method is the most common. You send a GET request when you browse a website.

❯❯ Requests using GET should only retrieve data.

📮 POST

Use the POST method to submit data to the server.

POST requests often cause a state change or have side effects on the server.

❯❯ A standard GraphQL request uses POST requests.

📮 PUT

The PUT method replaces all the current data on the target endpoint with the new data you send as the payload.

📮 PATCH

The PATCH method applies partial modifications to a resource.

❯❯ Remember, PUT changes everything, and PATCH partially modifies data on the server.

📮 HEAD

The HEAD method asks for a response identical to a GET request but without the response body. So yeah, it's small, quick, and saves bandwidth.

📮 DELETE

Use the DELETE method to delete the specified resource. That is how you DELETE items from your server, as the name implies.

📮 CONNECT

The CONNECT method establishes a tunnel for two-way communication between the client and the server.

📮 OPTIONS

The OPTIONS method describes the communication options for the (target resource) on the server.

Use the OPTIONS request to identify allowed request methods. That's how you know which HTTP method to use on which endpoint.

📮 TRACE

Use the TRACE method to debug a request.

The TRACE method performs a message loop-back test along the path to the target resource. This provides a proper and useful debugging mechanism.

9 HTTP Request Methods You Should Know About

Reading this, I feel limitless, finally unlocking 100% of my brain.

This mysterious API is called "Bionic Reading"; you can use it today.

Finally, use your brain as a supercomputer.

Bionic reading, discovered by @Renato_Casutt, a typographic designer, is the reading technique that helps you read faster with your brain.

@renato_casutt This is probably better for everyone. I had mixed thoughts until I tried it a couple of times.

Renato Casutt is a typographic designer for over 25 years.

He was asked to design a book for a Swiss bestselling author during his studies.

@renato_casutt However, the book author didn't write the text in the German language. Instead, they opted for the Swiss language.

Renato had some difficulties reading Swiss.

But this was not the case while listening to or speaking Swiss.

@renato_casutt Because Renato had never read Swiss, that's why his brain was unable to process the written vocabulary.

He realized that if he was somehow able to read a fragment of a word, his brain could process the entire word.

@renato_casutt He changed each word into what he calls "bionic reading" format and suddenly found that his brain was able to process and read the entire text much faster.

Eventually, he found that bionic reading helped his classmates read the Swiss even faster.

It's real. It works!!

@renato_casutt And that's how Bionic Reading emerged.

Later on, Renato launched his first product around Bionic Reading.
