1889, William Hume, an lrish cyclist and captain of Belfast Cruisers Cycling Club was the first to demonstrate the edge of Dunlop's Tyres. William Harvey du Cros spots a business opportunity in commercialization of the pneumatic tyre thereby persuade John.
1896, The Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre Company is born after Harvey du Cros had cashed out his early investment in promoting the pneumatic tyre. 1900, Dunlop produces its first car tyre and opens a factory in Durban, South Africa 35 years later.
1923, Harvey Samuel Firestone a rubber magnate sends experts to Liberia to test its soil suitability for rubber 1926, Bridgestone's subsidiary Firestone Natural Rubber Company opens up the largest rubber plantation in the world in Harbel, Liberia
1957, Dunlop's South African operations expand to Rhodesia building a factory in Bulawayo on 44 acre industrial site. The site becomes operational after 2 years of construction which at its peak was producing 7000 tonnes of tyres and employing +2000.
1961, NTS is registered under the Companies and Business Entities Act. It benefits from the Dunlop's Bulawayo Factory. 1963, Sumitomo Group of Japan acquired Dunlop Japan which subsequently resulted in control of the Dunlop brand across Africa by Sumitomo.
1969, @ntszim is listed on stock exchange. 1995, Treadmaster a retreading company and new tyre supplier is acquired further entrenching the dominant position of the business. 2006, Indian tyre giant Apollo Tyres acquire Dunlop International,
It is the parent company of NTS's subsidiary Dunlop Zimbabwe which is now Auto Tyres Zimbabwe Auto Tyres Zimbabwe is now controlled by local consortium Zoomway which has bought new modern equipment for tyre manufacturing.
#2. Operations, NTS is in the business of retailing and retreading of tyres, wheel alignment, wheel balancing & related services It supplies a wide range of NEW TYRES for all classes of motor vehicles RETREADING is replacing worn out tread with a new tread.
NTS offers retreading for trucks and bus radial tyres. This is a key pillar of the business which differentiates it from other competing service providers. The main retreading factory is in Harare supported by another in Bulawayo

#5. Shareholding, 34,22% of NTS is held by Merchant Bank of Central Africa (MBCA) Nominees rebranded to Nedbank after purchase by the SA group. The appointing of a nominee shareholder has the advantage of keeping the details of the actual owner private.
12,29% of the business is controlled by a subsidiary linked to Apollo Tyres an Indian based company which bought Dunlop Zimbabwe. However Apollo Tyres sold off its 51% stake in Dunlop Zimbabwe now Auto Tyre Zimbabwe to a local consortium Zoomway.
