LATEST: Kenneth Mejia, L.A.'s city controller is in the spotlight as he denies allegations of heading a "toxic" workplace, brought forward by former employees. He considers the complaints to be mere venting of dismissal frustrations.
Among other allegations, Mejia reportedly blurred the personal-professional boundary by encouraging employees to live in his apartment complex. He also allegedly made inappropriate comments about the sex life of staffers in front of other staff.
Mejia’s former coworkers Kyler Chin and Shekinah Deocares, who contributed significantly to the campaign, were dismissed weeks after Mejia took office. They are among the former staff behind these serious allegations.
