I'm excited to announce that after a successful Alpha program, MAGNETIQ is ready for its Beta release! We go live with our very first brand partners today, April 5th, 2023 – and we can’t wait to share the platform with you.

Beta is open to all individual users to create accounts (sign up or log in directly at app.magnetiq.xyz). Brands may sign up to be considered for one of our early cohorts at www.magnetiq.xyz by filling out the “Build With Us” form.

Throughout our Alpha release, we received valuable feedback from initial testers, and improved both the flow and environment based on their input. Now, in the Beta release, we’re looking forward to hearing from everyone as we continue to refine and upgrade your experience.

By joining MAGNETIQ early, you’ll have the opportunity to not only try out the platform, but help shape the future of interaction with your favorite brands.

MAGNETIQ Beta Release Announced for April 5th, 2023

I combed, filtered, and summarized every #SEC 8-K filing from tech companies across the country this weekend, using a proprietary, internal version of #ChatGPT** to give you the lowdown on their disclosures regarding #SVB. Here you go:

Unfortunately, all of these statements filed via form 8-K don't say a whole lot other than "we're not/are minimally exposed" - but we have YET to see:

(a) the magnitude of horror for those that ARE exposed; and
(b) the unannounced panic of non-reporting companies.

We'll see how many other banks follow suit declaring solvency, and whether they open their arms to the companies currently struggling to move lines of credit and loan facilities.

I sympathize extra with those holding loan/credit facilities than cash accounts, TBH.

Cash is gen. less worrisome (most AVERAGE account levels fall within insured levels) as they can ultimately be recouped, despite the inconvenience and inevitable fallout of the freeze.

But so many tech companies have little to no revenue; they rely on being able to draw from COMMITTED capital -- not just current 'dollars in the bank.'

So now, folks are looking at starting the vetting process fresh over, with very strained resources.

"Safe" banks (which, if you read @ProfessorStam's thread on social media as a unique threat, you'll understand is no longer a calculable designation) will try to house as many new accounts as possible, but have their own internal limits.

The moral of this story? Be kind and patient with the process of bandaging this contagion -- on both sides.

And remember: just because Joel + Ellie in The Last of Us aren't infected CLEARLY doesn't mean they're out of the woods.

6 "tactics" for exerting influence are evaluated on a scale of leaning toward either "warm" or "competent." When you read the trait labels, however, you immediately see they fall into 2 *actual* categories:

Asking for permission, or apologizing for your existence.

Asking, connecting, asserting, qualifying, waiting + checking.

Not one single one of these* is "speaking your mind plainly because it's time women stop bending to + accommodating the 'expectations for their gender'."

(*you were going to say "asserting." In context, still nope.)

Then we get to the real kicker - a pitiful "call to (in)action" for companies: hire women as directors anyway, *~*despite their woeful inadequacies*~*.

🗣️Grade them on a curve!
🗣️They haven't had a fair shot!

⛳Expand beyond the golf course bias? No.
⛳Promote them appropriately so they reach the req. positions to qualify? No.
⛳Assume expertise given they're at the same table as you? No.
⛳Lose the pity party? No.

Just, "hey boys, invite your sister to play your video game."

Perpetuating performance politics, distributing useless "advice" on how not to offend anyone, and ending with this excruciating, self-congratulatory assertion that they've given "both sides" advice on how to play nice with each other is a far cry from what I hoped to read.

I would love to speak to any 1 of their 43 subjects and see if they signed off on this as a useful piece of literary insight?

Or are they just too tired of the bullshit to really engage any further? Monitoring your behavior + threading a needle with every sentence is exhausting.

All I can say is: do better, @HarvardBiz -- you had incredible potential to deliver insights, plus the opportunity for a narrative shift, with this kind of raw data on your hands.

Instead, this was disappointing fluff.

How Women Navigate the Warmth-Competence Line

1. I didn't expect a chat about insurance to be so riveting, but TBH, I was enthralled.

(Not to mention @doitbigchicago had some pretty great one-liners re: crypto, like "there's got to be something between J.Lo's ass and cannabis" that can get us to an insurable place.)

Thoughts bandied about how insurers account for theft vs. loss, plus, what does "vaulted" actually mean to a major insurer?

This spun up some interesting considerations: Is multi-sig sufficient? Is it physical control of a seed phrase? >1 location? Physical hardware in custody?

2. Bermuda is the insurance capital of the world. (Fun fact, I grew up in Connecticut, and Hartford, CT is the insurance capital of the U.S. -- who knew it had an international bestie?!)

Bermuda is hyper-advanced as far as insuring commodities goes, and an interesting endeavor (w/ @ItzBermuda is leading the charge) is finding creative ways to marry their tech-forward inclinations with novel movements in crypto.

Plus, sand at Bermuda beaches is cold. Bonus fact.

3. RUN TO FIND YOUR FRENS. On this #SpaceRun, I took a detour to go high five @Zimmy_eth in LES, and every single mile of the 9-turned-11-miler was worth it.

1. Everyone is still figuring something out; but established folks are both better + bolder for doing it in public.

- Should I rename my newsletter?
- How many platforms is too many before you cannibalize your own quality?
- Is this the right hook; or should I A/B test?

Take note. These are the most confident movers in the space. Those who open their process up to share are the most well-positioned to receive unexpected insights from unexpected places.

PLUS, the vulnerability you expose to your community makes people want to help even MORE.

2. Find your why, and build a circle around it.

We talked shop about motivation, dedication, and what it means to develop a habit. Whatever the underlying reason is that you run insane distances or host a #twitterspace every day, understand WHY you're in the game.

Next, you are the sum of your 5 closest people. Who you spend time with influences you to an immeasurable degree.

Build a crew that not only supports, but advances you.

If you are dedicated to a craft, find friends who are better than you. Chase. Fail. Embrace the suck. WIN.

3. To dox, or not to dox?

LinkedIn, a native platform for a former corpie like me, is new to plenty in web3. Challenges include not only leveraging for traction, learning the lingo, etc. -- but also, do you use your "real" name, or online identity? Does it matter?

I felt this SO hard. Changing my handle from @Eva_Ducati  (10 yrs in) to @kaylan_sliney was crushing.

I had my reasons, but sad it was forced. I look forward to the day we can take web3 ethos into stodgy old places and say HEY. THIS IS US. JPEGs *are* identity, and this is mine.

First, let me say I take liberties of assumption, bc I'm 100% certain he'd rather fight wildland fires and smoke us plebes in ultramarathons than suffer the fluorescent lights of a co-working space for "perks" like stale drip coffee and tripping over charging e-scooters.

Second, if you aren't familiar, @davidgoggins is a retired Navy SEAL who endured Hell Week 3x, has run an offensive # of ultramarathons under grueling circumstances (health conditions chief among them), and broke the world pull-up record just bc he felt like it.

Basically, he does crazy shit just because he's alive and because he can. My own personal ethos.

NOW, I'm running a company, and quote him to my team frequently. But the more I think about it, the more hilarious I think it'd be to bring Goggins to the office for a day.

Water breaks? Soft. Hydration is dead weight, and you only set your team up to need bathroom breaks.

Solution: only hire men, so they can pee off the 7th floor balcony if + when absolutely necessary.

Caffeine? We have an intolerance. So you do, too. Won't so much as *smell* coffee in here!

Solution: Toughen up. If I only slept 16 hrs across 4 days in the 240 mile Moab race, 4 of which were in hospital, you can make it through your 9 hrs in a knockoff Aeron chair, Chad.

Ghosted by a #VC? Cry me a river. Take my peer @jockowillink's mantra: "Good. You keep more of the company."

Solution: Run 100 miles to spell out your DocSend link via #mapmyrun and blast it to the entire venture ecosystem. Work smarter AND harder. (BTW I would 💯 do this.)

Anyway, just finished @davidgoggins new book "Never Finished" (hey, wait...?) and he never ceases to amaze, inspire, and endure.

I've done his #4x4x48 challenge, climbed Everest Base Camp w/ a parasite, run 26.2s around the 🌍, and continue to dig for the "new deep end."

Physical challenges/mental toughness are my 🍞+🧈, but it's  incredible applying lessons learned in the freezing cold, thru exhaustion + monsoon szn, heat waves + hospital-grade illness, to the founder journey.
