First-principles Thinking is a potent mental model for discovering hidden information. In order to base their work on the facts they uncover, scientists and innovators use first-principles reasoning. #MentalModel One of the earliest Thinker use the #FirstPrinciples was Aristotle:
Finding a path to the fundamentals (truth and essence) via the first-principles approach is the goal. Starting with a concept or issue, it should work backwards until an axiom is discovered. ++
To do this, it is crucial to identify the correct questions to pose in order to break the issue down and start from scratch. To put it another way, the first rule of the approach is to challenge an assumption until you come to the core and the reality. ++
#Framework for First Principles 1. Explicitly stating your thoughts and citing your sources- How come I believe this? What do I really think? ++
2. contesting presumptions. Why do I believe this to be true? What if I had the opposing opinion? 3. Search for proof. Why do I consider this to be the case? What sources exist? 4. Think of different angles. What may others believe? How am I to know whether I am right?
5. Consider the effects and ramifications. What if I am incorrect? How will it affect me if I am? 6. Object to the initial queries. Why was that my thought? Is this right? What inferences may I make based on the logic?
How to methodically apply and argue from the #FirstPrinciples It is simple to know, but challenging to put into practice. Applying first-principles thinking will become a habit that will benefit you much in the long run. ++
A change in brain patterns brought about by design thinking enables the discovery of fresh concepts and solutions. Eliminating assumptions and unverified information is made easier by creating a framework. ++
This method assists researchers in comprehending issues, locating their sources, and bringing their viewpoint into line with reality. Designers can take ideas forward or leave them for later testing by outlining them and using frameworks. ++
As they gain expertise, articulating questions and procedures in a template aids them in avoiding forgetting crucial components. By breaking down presumptions into meaningful knowledge via practice, one may better map the world and align oneself with the terrain. ++
Final thoughts First-principles thinking comes naturally to #Children. They keep asking questions until they fully grasp the situation and its underlying principles. Unfortunately, persistent probing irritates the majority of parents.
They either don't know the right response or believe a youngster can't comprehend how complicated the world is. Because of this, "Because I said so" is the most often used response among parents. People who maintain their interest & tenacity become inventors and #AdvanceSociety.
