Many people don't differentiate between duties in a relationship & efforts in a relationship. Because when the invisible wall starts building in your relationship, you blame the other for being ungrateful by pointing out your responsibilities.

What you are not realizing is that every relationship needs a few efforts—thoughtful gifts, praising them, appreciating their efforts in the relationship, etc.

With time every person around us evolves, so we need to find new compatibility with each other every few years, & that can't be built without efforts.

Don't think fulfilling duties is enough for a relationship and also don't let the other person in the relationship walk all over you without putting in efforts.
