Il y a quelque jours, je vous demandais si vous souhaitiez en savoir plus sur mon rôle de VP of Engineering.
Vous avez été nombreux a vouloir en savoir plus, alors voici un petit #thread
Pour vous donner un peu de context, j'ai rejoint l'entreprise comme "Founding Engineer" et premier employé avec un passif de #DevOps
Nous étions a l'époque que 2 personnes dans la société (le founder et moi)
Puis nous avons commencer a recruter nos premier développeur etc
Je me suis charger naturellement de faire le sourcing / entretien des développeur et ainsi permettre au founder d'avancer sur d'autre sujet
Quand nos premier développeur, nous on rejoint, j'ai naturellement fait leur 1to1, répondu a toute leur question, etc
Quelque mois, plus tard, l'équipe a bien grandi, et il était temps de discuter de se que j'était, et ainsi définir plus précisément mon rôle
Nous en sommes arrivé au stade ou le rôle de VP of Engineering m'a été proposer
Mais globalement, je fait quoi ?
Vous trouverez des visions différentes dans chaque entreprise
Aujourd'hui, j'ai une casquette de Manager / Architecte / Infrastructure / tout se qui touche a la tech globalement
Dans certaine boîte, ce rôle serait appeler CTO
Chaque semaine, j'ai des points individuels avec chaque employé de 30 minutes
Je prépare les sprints, challenge le produit
Le rôle d'architecte me demande aussi beaucoup de temps, car je doit m'assuré que l'ensemble de se que nous construisons soit "logique"
Bien sûr, j'ai aussi une grosse casquette de Manager. Prendre du temps pour parler avec les équipes, intégrer les nouvelles personnes, être a leur écoute
Mais aussi prévoir des plans de carrière, les évolutions de poste futur
Mais aussi les augmentations, primes, etc
Il y a aussi le côté RH / Recrutement
Préparer les contrats de travail, etc
Globalement, pas mal de chose qui doivent être faite :)
Mon rôle risque de beaucoup changer durant les prochaines semaines / mois. En startup, la vie n'est pas un long fleuve tranquille :) Et les postes a responsabilités changent assez souvent ! Mais je serais la pour répondre au besoin de la boîte 😍
