Bakhmut
The AFU repulsed attacks around Bakhmut north and south side,  Orihovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Predtechine and Stupochky.

Ukrainian soldiers on telegram talk about the Russians advancing in the Khromove area during the night. They supposedly got their asses handed to them and the RU forces had to pull back during the day.

Avdiivka
RU forces attacks have increased lately, and during the last 24 hours they attacked in the area of Keramik, Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, Severna, Pervomaiske, Marinka, Novomykhailivk and Pobieda

[RU-ish] Alexander Khodakovsky talk about increasing UA artillery and drone attacks.
He also describes what can only be interpreted as Robot Wars. UA attacking with swarms of drones to distract their anti-drone drones.

Svatove
The AFU repulsed attacks arond Stel'makhivka,  Chervonopopivka and Serebryansʹke. Wargonzo reports a RU attack in the Makiivka direction.

@serhey_hayday Reports the AFU are a few kilometers away from Kreminna, unclear how many, but progress is slow because the area is heavily mined. He also states the defense of Bilohorivka is confidently holding .

The AFU repulsed attacks around Pidhorodne, Bakhmut, Opytne and Kurdyumivka. Wargonzo reports RU attacks in the direction of Bakhmutske.

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but I did link a video. Ukraine did some Christmas cleaning and removed unwanted rodents from the eastern parts of the city.

The AFU repulsed attacks around Marinka and Krashnohorivka. Wargonzo reported RU attacks around Pobjeda and Oleksandropil. RU units aim to encircle Novobakhmutivka by cutting off the H-20 highway by Oleksandropil according to Wargonzo.

Training of RU soldiers, I mostly added this for the "Barrel Combat Roll" which I thought was funny.

A shelling was reported in the area of Verbove (the blue arrows are just the order the shellings were mentioned in)
AFU might be closing in on the town from the north west.

Svatove
The AFU repulsed attacks around Stel'makhivka and Chervonopopivka. A shelling was reported in the area of Yahidne by UA.

I believe the AFU positions are close to Yahidne to the south.  Otherwise no significant change. RU MoD claims to have hit UA troop concentrations close to Ivanivka which kind of confirms the frontline. Ivanivka remains contested.

Siversk
The AFU repulsed attacks around Bilohorivka and Verkhn'okam'yans'ke.
Wargonzo reports RU attacks in the direction of Vesele and Vyimka
RU mod claims strikes on UA positions near Dibrova, which confirms the frontline in the area.



Bakhmut
I don't believe there have been any significant change in the area. The situation changes from hour to hour. The AFU repulsed attacks around Bakhmuts'ke, Pidhorodne, Bakhmut (see next post) Klishchiivka and Andriivka.

It seems the AFU are managing to hold the defensive lines in and south of Bakhmut. What we need to keep an eye on is the area around Soledar and Yakovlivka. The most dangerous thing now would be if RU manages to isolate Soledar.

Donetsk
The AFU repulsed attacks in the direction of  Krasnohorivka, Oleksandropil, Mar'inka, Pobjeda and Novomykhailivka. Wargonzo also reported about RU attacks around Pervomais'ke and Nevel's'ke.

Fighting is heavy in this area the LDNR troops fight for "their" city. This means they are highly motivated and close to home.

According to RU MoD AFU units attacked in the area of Novosilka, Novomykhailivka and Volodymyrivka. I'm not paying too much attention to RU mod as their history with reporting the truth is not great.

I do believe the AFU has pushed back RU units a bit in this area which they captured during the Pavlivka offensive.

The Ukrainian General Staff reports continued strikes on RU warehouses and equipment in the Tokmak, Polohy and Berdyans'k area.

Kupyansk-Svatove
The RU struggle for "lebensraum" continues in the Svatove area.
The AFU repulsed an attack around Stel'makhivka. I belive this is an effort to try to keep the AFU away from the P-66 and attacking the last line of towns before Svatove.

Kreminna
The AFU repulsed an attack around Serebryansʹke. Wargonzo reported RU attacks around Makiivka and Chervonopopivka. I asses the AFU are making incremental progress in this area. Smaller positional battles are taking place in preparation for better weather.

Siversk
The AFU repulsed attacks in the direction of Verkhn'okam'yans'ke, Vesele and Vyimka. I believe attacks in the direction of Vesele and Vyimka comes from the Bilohorivka area. I consider the town a grey zone.

Bakhmut
Continued attacks by Wagner in the Bakhmut area. The AFU repulsed attacks around eastern Bakhmut, Optyne and Klishchiivka. I believe RU forces will continue to advance in the areas surrounding Bakhmut at a pace of several meters per day.

I also believe the AFU will attempt a limited counter attack to reset RU positions. I do not believe Bakhmut is in danger until RU forces can threaten the supply to the city, which I don't believe they are close to doing.

Another thing regarding Bakhmut, even if RU forces enter the city, will have high ground west of the Bakhmutovka river. This is an area with large concrete buildings and industrial areas while the east side is mostly consists of small houses. (Image POV from north looking south)

The river it self might not be a huge obstacle, but if you consider the open space and the elevation differences, it might be hard for the RU dismounted infantry to cross it. It will be even harder to supply units actually managing to cross it.

Donetsk
The AFU repulsed attacks around Pervomaiske, Nevelske and Krasnohorivka. Wargonzo reports "positional battles" in Velyka Novosilka and additional attacks around  Mar'inka, Pobjeda and Novomykhailivka. No change.

Wargonzo reported AFU attacks in the direction of Sofiivka.

Kreminna
The AFU repulsed attacks around Chervonopopivka and Ploshchanka. Wargonzo reports the AFU attacked in the direction of Holykove. I think the AFU are continually progressing at a slow pace in this area.

Siversk
The AFU repulsed an attack around Bilohorivka. I consider this town contested and I believe the AFU only have consolidated positions in the western parts of the town.

Bakhmut
The AFU repulsed attacks around Bakhmut, Opytne, Zelenopillya and Andriivka. Wargonzo reports the AFU counterattacked around Kurdyumivka and Ozarianivka. I think the AFU are trying to buck back RU forces which crossed the canal around Ozarianivka.

This is roughly what I think is going on around the city Bakhmut. Earlier in the week it was reported RU units managed to get in to the very eastern part of the residential areas of Bakhmut.

Even if they get in there and managed to establish a positions, they still need to be supplied. They might just send in new wagnerites as the old ones run out of supplies, that would be a very Russian solution to the problem.

Donetsk
The AFU repulsed attacks around Maryinka, Pobyeda and Novomykhailivka. Wargonzo reported additional RU attacks in the area of Vodyane, Pervomais'ke and Nevel's'ke.


There are some reports about explosion's in Luhansk. Local reporters claim it is RU planes going supersonic and/or Air Defense. At the same time, local chats report they lost electricity and gas. That must be the worst case of supersonic boom I've ever heard of.

According to this, we will not have favorable conditions for the ground to freeze this year.

Kupyansk-Svatove
Shellings were reported in the area of 3 settlements which I consider to be held by the Russians. Volodymyrivka was new.
The AFU repulsed attacks around Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka.

Kreminna
The AFU repulsed attacks around Ploshanka, Chervonpopivka, Bilogorivka and Hryhorivka. No significant change in this direction since yesterday.

Bakhmut north
The AFU repulsed attacks in the direction of Vyimka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske and Bakhmut. Last night RU telegrams claimed to have fully captured Yakovlivka, based on evidence today, I think it's likely they captured most or all of it.

The Russians have crossed the canal west of Ozarianivka and established positions in the previous UA trenches.

RU forces are working hard to encircle Avdiivka, they have come about half way in 8 years. Today the AFU repulsed attacks around Oleksandropil and Novobakhmutivka

Donetsk
The AFU repulsed attacks around Nevelske, Maryinka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka. There are a lot of attacks and not a lot of progress for the RU side in this area.

More strikes on RU units in Tokmak were reported today.
