0️⃣ - Don't listen to chillers and TikTok Gurus: Always double-check all info and enforce rule 1.

1️⃣ - Do your own research (DYOR): Don't rely on information from just one source, make sure to gather information from multiple credible sources before making an investment.

2️⃣ - Set clear goals: Knowing your financial goals and the timeline for investment can help you stick to your strategy.

3️⃣ - Never invest in something you don't understand: Thoroughly research the project using a framework to understand the risks involved before investing.

4️⃣ - Don't put all your eggs in one basket: Spread your money across a range of different assets to reduce dependence on one type of investment.

5️⃣ - The greater the potential return, the higher the level of risk: Be mindful of the tradeoff between potential returns and risks involved.

6️⃣ - Long-term investments are not always accompanied by high returns: Consider the potential profits in terms of percentage, not the investment period.

7️⃣ - If something seems too good to be true, it usually is: Be cautious of highly speculative investments that seem too good to be true.

8️⃣ - Income reinvestment or cost averaging can help increase overall returns: Consider reinvesting earnings to increase overall profits, but keep in mind the potential risks involved.

Cognitive biases are systematic deviations from rational judgment. All of us experience them to some degree, and it's helpful to understand them in order to avoid or mitigate them.

🧵- Short List of Cognitive Biases

1/Confirmation bias:
Confirmation bias is the tendency to favor information that confirms (and discount information that disconfirms) one's pre-existing beliefs.

2/Cognitive Dissonance:
Cognitive Dissonance is the mental stress or discomfort experienced by an individual who holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values at the same time.

3/Framing bias:
Framing bias occurs when people react to a particular choice in different ways depending on how it is represented, e.g., when people value losses more than valuing gains.

4/Fundamental attribution error: 
Fundamental attribution error is the tendency to exaggerate the role of others’ internal characteristics vs. situational factors when explaining their behavior.

5/Mere Exposure Effect:
Occurs when people tend to develop a preference for things merely because they are familiar with them (e.g., words, sounds, people).

6/Default bias:
We tend to favor things we recently experienced, experienced, were most similar to us, or are the status quo.

7/Observer-expectancy effect: 
Occus when a researcher expects a given result and therefore unconsciously manipulates an experiment or misinterprets data in order to find it.

8/Survivorship bias: 
Is the process of concentrating on the people or things that "survived" some process and inadvertently overlooking those that did not work because of their lack of visibility.

9/Selection bias: 
Occurs when the members of a statistical sample are not chosen completely at random, which leads to the sample not being representative of the population.
