Is there any network that can beat Solana's speed?
Of course, there is. There is @SeiNetwork.
Sei is a layer-1 blockchain built using the Cosmos SDK and the Tendermint Core. With its stack of tools, Sei promises lightning-fast transactions. 🧵/
If you are not familiar, @cosmos offers two tools - Cosmos SDK and Tendermint core.
Cosmos SDK is an open-source tool that enables the development of application-specific blockchains, different from general-purpose blockchains like Ethereum and Solana.
And unlike these two, blockchains built using Cosmos SDK do not scale linearly. Instead, they scale in groups with other blockchains (inter-blockchain communication).
Tendermint Core is a Byzantine Fault Tolerance Consensus mechanism. And it allows low-cost and fast transaction finality. Protocols like Oasis, IRISnet, and Binance DEX were built with Tendering Core.
With the prowess of these tools, you would agree when I say Sei is a beast.
Now, let's take our gaze back to Sei.
Sei is a sector-specific layer-1 that aims to become the go-to chain for decentralized exchanges (DEX). Why DEX?
DEXs are the killer apps of web3. Many applications of web3 revolve around them, from NFT to tokens, down to gaming.
For instance, if a large DEX like Uniswap goes down, it is catastrophic. But can we say the same for other decentralized applications?
Unfortunately, they don't get the much-deserved attention.
It reveals one thing - DEXs need to be reliable, scalable, and fast (Oh, sorry! Three things).
Now, that's where Sei comes in.
Remember at the beginning of this thread, you read a wild claim that Sei is faster than Solana. Who can argue against that when the network boasts 22,000 order processing per second and a lightning-fast 600ms transaction finality. The real concern should be how it does it?
Not much of a concern as the network is built using Tendermint Core. It also aggregates all orders, processes them at the block's end, and prevents frontrunning. Unlike Ethereum and Solana, which execute orders one at a time, Sei does a one-stop shopping at the end of the block.
Safe to say that Sei is optimized to help DEXs, or better put, trading platforms and marketplaces, offer the best user experience.
The only concern right now is that Sei is on testnet with only 250 validators, and if it will be able to maintain its nitro speed when it hits mainnet.
Regardless of these concerns, it is incredible that over 90+ protocols on Sei. One such protocol is @Nitro_Labs.
