Hey Twitter ππ½
Excited + (slightly) nervous as I launch the Founding Cohort of my 5-week, live SaaS Brand Marketing course today π€
- to help folks break into SaaS Brand Marketing
- to upskill generalist marketers into SaaS Brand Marketing specialists
A thread on the 5W1Hππ½
WHY?
India's startup talent pool is shockingly small, and as more startups now make the 1-10-100 journey, hiring has become a struggle π°
I see my SaaS Marketing leader peers' struggle with hiring every. single. day
Hiring at your startup/scaleup challenging? An Employer Brand built on radical differentiation will be your biggest moat.
Radical Differentiation = donβt be everything for everyone
Here are some things we do Springworks (@springroleinc) ππ½
At Springworks:
β’ inordinate, deliberate focus on employee well-being
β’ permanently remote, async, writing-heavy culture
β’ industry-first, 2-week notice period
β’ 4-day work-week experiment
β’ automated leave approvals
We're attracting talent purely on basis of how we work.
Made it to the top 3 @ProductHunt 'Community Member of the Year'. Glad the folks at Product Hunt gave me some validation for my PH obsession π π
On a serious note though, just happy to be an evangelist for one of the nicest corners of the internet πππΌππ½
Anyone who's telling you otherwise (ref: image) is probably just plain lying or trying to sell you something. Here's what you can expect at your first Marketing role at an early-stage startup π§΅ππ½
Saw someone's tweet that "we've more courses on Product Management than actual PMs". I'm sure it was in jest, still is myopic.
The reality is India startup talent pool is shockingly small, and as more startups now make the 10-100 journey, hiring has become a struggle.

While companies do hire adults on their payroll, many of them fail to treat these employees like adults. A glaring example of this is how they treat employee leaves (which is also a fantastic test of the company culture). Here's why, explained in this short π§΅π
Here's an established company's leave policy. 20-odd days of leaves allocated to all FTEs, but instead of letting employees decide when/how they wish to use it, they prorate leaves on a month-by-month basis. So ~2 leaves get added to employee's leave balance every month π€¦π½ββοΈπ€¦π½ββοΈ

If you're young, just started your career, and are confused about what you're doing, here's my story from 7.5 years ago.
After quitting my first job at BYJUs in 2013, I decided to take a 1-yr break to figure out 'what next'. To survive in B'luru, I did a bunch of odd jobs π
