Okay, another Major is over, which means it's time for another roundup of the best golf improvement tweets I've seen over the last couple months. You may want to bookmark, there's some good stuff in here. (Also feel free to add your own or any I may have missed) 🧵
First, here's where you can find the last two of these I've done if you missed them and want to go down that rabbit hole. twitter.com/hutch_golf/status/1658214820381089792?s=20
The work I've done with @adamyounggolf has been the most impactful in my journey from a 10 to a .3. Luckily for golf Twitter, he's started tweeting some really great threads. I don't want this to be an all Adam thread, so adding the rest in replies to this twitter.com/adamyounggolf/status/1681734597711917056?s=20
.@mike_kim714 has become one of my favorite follows. Amazing golfer & genuinely seems like a great guy. Also posses the ability to communicate nuance on a platform that tends to send people into competing camps. Example below on "Swing your swing". twitter.com/Mike_kim714/status/1665400919423369216?s=20
.@freewilllyyyy has been playing some amazing golf, having just qualified for the Met-Am & setting a course record. He's also wicked smaht & if you want to understand the math behind why defaulting to the pin as your target can hurt your scores, read on: twitter.com/freewilllyyyy/status/1554180205027131392?s=20
A concise explanation of the benefits and basic approach to speed training from @Fit_For_Golf. More from Mike in replies twitter.com/Fit_For_Golf/status/1681504235496800256?s=20
I'm loving these Golf Digest videos created by @LukeKerrDineen. Here's a great one on Cam Smith's putting. My two key takeaways: 1/ use a mirror, 2/ don't get into the trap of trying to control speed via acceleration. More from LKD in replies: twitter.com/LukeKerrDineen/status/1679959908538621953?s=20
Capture size of the hole is the reason that when I practice putts inside 15', I putt to stickers or ball markers with a second one ~18" behind the target. That's the best way I've found to work on both speed & line. twitter.com/TheGolfFreak/status/1679116979154882560?s=20
. @JaysonNickol is a fantastic coach who has helped me personally, especially in gaining speed. Here he breaks down the "fight fire with fire" approach to addressing ball flight issues. I use this A LOT: twitter.com/JaysonNickol/status/1658468976823762944?s=20
I don't normally include swing tips because the swing is so individualized, but this from @ryanmouquegolf is a great visual regardless of what you're working on: twitter.com/ryanmouquegolf/status/1682701227602378752?s=20 His online course also looks awesome: t.co/WtSJNbkUh9. More from Ryan in replies
This visual from @LouStagner does a great job illustrating why Greens in Reg are so valuable and why target selection and understanding your dispersion is key. Adding some additional reference material from Lou in replies: twitter.com/LouStagner/status/1676978528053592064?s=20
Which ones of these 12 mistakes detailed by @CMcCormickGolf are you guilty of? "Intolerance to errors" used to be a big one for me. Now, I've learned to embrace them, even if they can still annoy me. twitter.com/CMcCormickGolf/status/1676729787623038977?s=20
Thanks to @chasingscratch0, there's been a lot of talk recently about the mental game. Some practical advice from none other than @practicalgolf. I especially like the stuff on Post-Shot Routine: twitter.com/practicalgolf/status/1675845763199533056
I've recently started working 1:1 with @joshlukenichols on my mental game with the goal of playing more freely, especially under pressure situations. Early days, but I'm seeing & feeling the progress. Great thread here on Outcome-focus vs. Process-focus. twitter.com/joshlukenichols/status/1663572577367752704?s=20
Let's get physical... This exercise from @Etpi hits a lot of muscles that can easily get neglected, and are especially important to strengthen if we spend much of our day sitting. Warning... cramps may ensue: twitter.com/Etpi/status/1675418415467487232?s=20
Let's get powerful! Good stuff here from @JGGolfFitness. More from Jamie in replies. twitter.com/JGGolfFitness/status/1675246142215290881?s=20
A two-for-one here... @adamyounggolf and @practicalgolf with some great threads explaining the keys to understanding and working with different types of practice. twitter.com/adamyounggolf/status/1669782585785094145?s=20 twitter.com/practicalgolf/status/1674826793738551325?s=20
Clubfitting! An area of the game I don't know much about, but am trying to learn. This thread from Jon is an excellent primer. twitter.com/practicalgolf/status/1673314019862802432?s=20
Swingspiration twitter.com/Fit_For_Golf/status/1672351431242952704?s=20
Simple and powerful ideas to lower your scores from @golfsciencelab: twitter.com/golfsciencelab/status/1670798902210035713?s=20
I'm a fan of the @pargolfapp, but as it turns out, I also like Dallas as a player/coach. Good stuff in here: twitter.com/pargolfapp/status/1667975249072209920?s=20
Closing with a good reminder for those grinding away but not seeing the results they'd like. Your score is a lagging indicator of your work. Don't beat yourself up if you're not where you'd like to be yet. twitter.com/BStulberg/status/1668605202931372032?s=20
