👉 I feel the need for a short Twitter thread just before #wwdc22 kicks off. First, remember that Apple announced their transition to Apple Silicon in 2020, exactly two years ago. They stated it would take about two years to complete. So here we are, two years later. 

What's the only Mac that didn't get the Apple Silicon treatment? The Mac Pro. Why on earth do tech or Apple pundits think Apple will release a redesigned MacBook Air, a consumer-oriented device, now? Makes no sense at all. It's not rocket science; it's marketing 101.

Stop drinking leakers' cool-aid. By announcing the Apple Silicon Mac Pro today, right on target, it will help show Apple in its best light: delivering powerful tech to the right audience in a timely fashion. It's the right message at the right time.

Again, this is marketing 101. If anything, the M2-redesigned-MacBook-Air will come this fall, starting a new round of innovations and improvements to the Mac line, with the next generation Apple Silicon chip. 

If that wasn't enough to convince you, remember to look at history to get a glimpse at the future: the Mac Pro trash can was announced at the 2013 WWDC conference and the current Mac Pro at the 2019 WWDC conference.

This article was long in coming. It required quite a few moments of introspection on my life and my relationship with Apple. It's was a much more complex thing to put together than I originally thought. I'm quite happy with the end results.
