1/ Presenting the seventh thread in my "AlphaAlways" series:
⭐ AlphaAlways #7 - NFT Tools: NFTNerds.ai ⭐
NFT Nerds is now one of the key tools in my NFT toolkit, and one which continues to go from strength to strength.
There's so much to unpack here.
3/ NFTNerds is feature rich, and packs a punch. By way of overview, it gives you:
🌟 Firehose View (Listings / Sales Feed w/ 5-min Trending)
🌟 Trending Data
🌟 Collection Data / Breakdowns
🌟 Asset Review
🌟 Rarity and Listing Sniper (w/ Gas Presets and Mempool Tracking)
4/ Let's look at these in turn...starting with NFT Nerds' "Firehose" feature.
The Firehose lets you track the pulse of the market. It shows all listings and sales for collections across OpenSea, and you can also filter it to show only specific collections.
5/ This seems quite basic, but honestly, it's such a game changer. It lets you see what is selling fast, which collections keep popping up, and what they're selling for.
All of this helps you to decide which collections are worth your attention at any one time.
6/ This is aided by the "Most Active Collections" overview, which shows the collections with most sales and volume within the last five minutes, including graphs showing current price and volume.
This allows you to focus in on what the market is currently excited about.
7/ But what if you're not bothered about the wider market? You've already done your research and you know which projects you want to focus in on?
That's fine. NFTNerds has got you. There's a range of filters that let you hone in on what you want to see.
Example below ⬇️:
8/ What if you want to take it one step further? You know the collection. You know your price. Hell, you might even know what rarity you're looking for.
You can set all this in NFTNerds and it'll alert you the moment it finds a listing that meets your criteria.
9/ We'll get into how the alerts work in a bit more detail further below, when we talk about sniping.
But suffice to say, NFTNerds is FAST, and will auto-submit a buy TX to MetaMask upon finding a listing that meets your criteria.
Why do it manually when you can automate? 🧠
10/ It's worth noting that - as listings show up in Firehose - it shows some key information:
🌟 Collection Name
🌟 Token ID
🌟 Rank (If Known)
🌟 Price
🌟 Time of Trade
🌟 OpenSea Link
🌟 EtherScan TX Link
That's a LOT of information packed into one place.
11/ A few things to note, here:
⚫ - If NFTNerds finds a listing, you can instantly send a buy TX to your MetaMask, to accept, by clicking "Buy".
⚫ - If you're intrigued by a transaction, you can click into it and you'll be shown a breakdown of the NFT bought (see ⬇️)
12/ The latter feature is a UI element which is reproduced in some of the other areas of the website that we'll go over later.
However, it is hugely useful for putting the key information you might need before making a trade in one place *before* you commit.
13/ The UI brings together:
- An image of the token (NFTNerds caches this directly from the metadata)
- Rank and Rarity Overview w/ Trait Breakdown
- Latest Trades
- Overview of Collection Data (w/ Supply, Royalty, Recent Sales / Floor, Listings etc)
14/ All of this is really useful to inform your buying and trading decisions, and saves you looking at about 10 different screens in OpenSea! ❤
Conscious the above screenshot mentions pending TXs...don't worry, we'll get to that exciting tidbit later.
15/ Ok, so Firehose gives you that short, instant view of everything that's ❗ CURRENTLY ❗ happening on OpenSea.
But what if you want to zoom out and see that wider, more hollistic view of the market, and what's recently been trending?
That's what the "Trending" tab is for.
16/ The Trending tab - as shown below - shows you popular collections over a 1M / 5M / 15M / 1H / 4H / 1D / 7D timeframe.
For each collection, you can see (and sort by):
🌟 # of Trades
🌟 Volume
🌟 AVG Price
It also includes graphs showing price and volume changes.
17/ Everyone will have their own methods of reviewing market data to decide which projects they wish to invest in.
However, NFTNerds brings a lot of the key data you might need together in one place, and lets you get that quick overview at different timeframes.
18/ Once you've decided on a collection you're interested in - whether through your own research (or even just because it's blowing up in Firehose) - you'll want to deep-dive into the collection, by using NFTNerds' collection page.
19/ You can get to this by:
(1) Clicking the collection in the "Trending" or "Firehose" view; or
(2) Searching for it in the Search bar at the top of the page, which allows you to search by:
- contract address
- collection name
- OpenSea slug
20/ Just for those of you that don't already know, the OpenSea "slug" is just the text after /collection/ in the OpenSea URL.
For example, for Pak's "The Fungible", it'd be "the-fungible-by-pak", as shown below!
21/ Ok, so let's dive into the Collection dashboard. There's a lot of good info here, which really helps to understand how the collection is moving. This includes:
🌟 Listing and Trades
🌟 Trade Data / Charts
🌟 Listing Charts
🌟 Rarity Charts
22/ Before we go into these, one-by-one, let's just have a quick look at the filter option, which applies across the whole dashboard (including all graphs!).
You'll notice that you can filter everything by:
🌟 Max Price
🌟 Max Rank (if ranked)
🌟 Traits (if ranked)
23/ If you know exactly what you're looking for, then you can use this to filter the entirety of the data by your specific preferences.
Only interested in an NFT with a specific trait? That's fine. Select it, and review the market for THAT. SPECIFIC. TRAIT.
Amazing.
24/ Ok, so moving on. The Listings / Trades feed for a collection is something you'll see yourself regularly using.
Similar to the Firehose, it's a live-feed of every new listing, or sale, for that particular collection. In real time.
25/ As I understand, it links in OpenSea's API to pull these just as they happen. And often, the feed on NFTNerds will be MUCH faster than using OpenSea itself.
See the examples below, taken literally seconds apart, but with NFTNerds having many more recent sales showing:
26/ Why is this important? In fast moving markets, it's key to have an ⭐ accurate ⭐ understanding of the current position. Whether the floor is moving up, or down, and how quickly.
Plus, having listings and trades separated helps to better understand supply and demand.
27/ The great thing about the listings feed is, as well, that you can instantly buy any new listings, without having to navigate through OpenSea's various confirmation screens.
NFTNerds will instantly submit the buy TX to your MetaMask, for you to accept.
28/ Given this, for fast moving collections, NFTNerds almost acts as a full replacement to OpenSea's storefront for me.
It's much quicker to start a buy transaction, and I can pick a listing JUST as it's added to OpenSea.
No more failed transactions as people beat me to it.
29/ As we discussed earlier, if you're curious about a particular TX, just remember as well that you can always click into it directly from NFTNerds' UI.
To the right of the price, you can find icons to:
🌟 view the item on OpenSea; or
🌟 click into the buy TX on Etherscan.
30/ Before we move onto the other parts of the dashboard, I'd be remiss not to mention that you can also sort any incoming listings, if useful.
The default sorts by listing date, but you can also sort by Price (to snipe the lowest listings), or Rank (to grab higher ranks!).
31/ If you're looking for a quick sale for a fast-moving project, you can always sort Listings by Price, and slightly undercut under the lowest listing.
Provided the floor isn't drowning significantly, you'll usually get your sale due to the extra lag on listings on OpenSea.
32/ Ok, so now we've looking at the benefit of the Listings / Trades feed, let's move ourselves across to the right side of the page.
At the top, we again see our helpful little collection "Summary", in the same format that we saw earlier when clicking into a token.
33/ This overview is always really helpful to refer back to when considering a trade.
Indeed, when I'm trawling through the collections Listings with a view to a potential flip, the "Royalty" total is a particularly useful reminder to factor in any potential deductions!
34/ We'll now take a look at the charts, just below the summary. With the first one being the "Trades" chart which - just as it sounds - does a really good job of plotting recent trades within the collection.
35/ The format will be somewhat familiar for those of you who have used other NFT analytics tools, but to summarise:
X-Axis = Time
Y-Axis = Price
Each dot is a trade.
Lighter, blue dot? Lower rarity rank.
Darker, red dot? Higher rarity rank.
Lines at bottom? Volume. Simple.
36/ At the top, you can:
🌟 Toggle "Outliers" - i.e. out of trend sales - which may skew the data
🌟 Change the "Interval", which impacts how many volume lines you'll see at the bottom
🌟 Change the "Span" - i.e. timeframe - for the data, between 15M / 1H / 4H / 1D / 7D / 30D
37/ All of this is useful for picking up trends in the market. For example, as you zoom out, you might see that trades are generally trending downwards.
Alternatively, you might notice that there are a lot of sales at a certain price level, and people are accumulating.
38/ It's also worth noting that:
🌟 you can mouse-over individual dots to see details of the relevant trade; and
🌟 you can mouse-over volume lines to get specific volume figures for the relevant interval
Examples ⬇️
39/ Now let's move onto the graph in the bottom left - the "Listings" graph.
This is one that will become absolutely invaluable in understanding whether a collection has the potential to run, as it shows the number of listings on OpenSea at different price brackets.
40/ This is really useful since if - to take a basic example - a collection is at 0.125 ETH, you can see there's only 10 listings between 0.125 ETH and 0.15 ETH, and the feed is showing multiple sales a minute...
Chances are that the floor can reach 0.15 ETH pretty soon.
41/ Obviously all of this is dependant on continued demand and the rate that people are listing new NFTs at an undercut.
But you can helpfully monitor all of that in the feed at the left of the page, to get a decent feel for where the market might be heading!
42/ Whilst the default view is useful for this, I find the "Ladder" toggle easiest to read / review.
As shown below, this clearly shows the number of listings within a particular group size AND the total, cumulative number of listings below the upper-limit of that group size.
43/ Again - as we've seen with other features - NFTNerds offers some level of customisability here, and let's you change the size of the intervals shown on the graph (i.e. the "Group Size") to suit your own taste:
44/ Moving onto the third and final graph included on the page, let's look at what I'll call the "Rarity" chart.
This one plots price on the Y-axis, and rarity on the X-axis, and it's super useful if you're trying to figure out how to price your rare NFT.
45/ The chart itself is fairly explanatory and shows how different rarities are generally priced.
It's also makes it really easy to see if something might be mispriced, given its rarity! If this is the case, it'll appear as a clear outlier vs. other listings at that rarity.
46/ Again, as with most of NFTNerds' charts, you can mouse over a particular dot to see more information about the listing - in this case:
🌟 Token Image
🌟 Token Price
🌟 Token Rarity
47/ Before we move on, there's a couple of more things to point out regarding this page.
As you'd expect, it has the name of the Collection at the top, alongside:
🌟 Easy-copy Contract Address
🌟 OpenSea / Etherscan / Discord links
Always useful for further research!
48/ If you find yourself repeatedly going back to the same collection, you can also bookmark it by clicking the little icon to the left of it's name, as shown below to add it to your "Favourite Collections".
49/ Finally, if you want to check out a particular token in the Collection (to make use of the token overview screen we looked at earlier!), there's a handy little token look-up in the top-right of the screen, as shown below:
50/ Entering a token ID and pressing enter will bring up the screen we saw earlier, when looking at Firehose, which gives you a comprehensive overview as to its rarity, how it looks, recent sales etc.
All very useful! ❤️
51/ In terms of the Collections that are available on NFTNerds - I understand that the tool is set up to pull collection data the moment someone makes a listing for it on OpenSea.
So there's no need to manually request that a collection is added on the tool in most cases!
52/ Right, before we dive into rarity and sniping, let's just have a quick look at the often overlooked "Asset" tab.
What does it do? You paste an OpenSea link and it'll review your token and offer some useful analytics!
Particularly useful if you're considering a buy.
53/ I've shown an example below. The first thing that'll strike you is that it's similar to the usual token overview window (including rarity / trait data!) except it also adds the following features:
- Comparative Chart for Rarity and Price
- Deal Checker
54/ As you'll no doubt see, this is really useful as a quick due diligence tool!
As you'll see in the example above, the "Recent Trades" graph shows a line with your token price, and then the price-points of sales for better / worse rarities over the last day or two.
55/ To supplement this, NFTNerds goes one further and also looks at current listings and - with reference to their perceived rarity - will tell you whether a better "deal" can be found elsewhere.
I.e. an NFT from the collection which is rarer, but cheaper (or the same) price.
56/ I must admit, I need to use this tool more, but I think it's particularly useful for those scenarios where you've done your own research, have high conviction in a project, and want to find the best entry point.
Certainly beats having to do it manually and scout through OS!
57/ Now - the bit you've probably all been waiting for - rarities and sniping capabilities.
Whilst NFTNerds makes a point to differentiate itself from other tools in the space and confirms, in the Discord, that it is not "a sniping tool"...it certainly does it very well!
58/ Obviously, in order to effectively "snipe" listings, you'll generally want some idea of the "rarity" of items within a collection and as I've briefly made reference to above, NFTNerds does include rarity data as part of its solution.
59/ As such, before we start talking about sniping, it's probably worth looking into how NFTNerds deals with rarity, where it gets its information from, and how you can arrange for a collection to be ranked, in order to supplement your research / sniping efforts.
60/ The first thing to note is that NFTNerds does something which I haven't seen in too many other tools.
It has its own rarity ranking system, which (as below) uses methods fairly in line with other providers and so should be fairly accurate.
61/ However, if a collection has an official ranking available, NFTNerds will - where possible - use that ranking instead, to avoid you having to look at multiple sites.
62/ Where a collection is ranked, you can usually tell which form of ranking is being used by NFTNerds by looking at the text alongside the relevant collection name.
It'll either say "NFTNerds Ranking V2", or alternatively "Official Rarity", as below ⬇️
63/ If a collection isn't ranked, how do you get it ranked?
There's a few ways, as follows:
🌟 Add to Reveal Calendar
🌟 Request in Discord
🌟 (Coming Soon!) Manual Queue
64/ Let's take these in turn, starting with "Reveal Calendar".
The NFTNerds Discord has a "Reveal-Requests" channel. If you're expecting a collection to reveal at a certain time - you can ask the team ahead of time to look out for it, and add it to their "Reveal Calendar".
65/ Once a collection is added to the reveal calendar, NFTNerds will keep checking the contract for that collection continuously, until it finds that the metadata has been made public.
At this point, it will fetch the metadata, rank it, and update NFTNerds automatically.
66/ However, there are also some times (for example, a stealth mint!) where such reveals are completely unexpected.
In these cases, the NFTNerds team is generally super helpful, and you can request a manual update of the metadata / rarity ranking for a collection on Discord.
67/ From my experience, it's generally a case of simply pasting the OS Collection on Discord and - if the team is available - they're usually super quick to deal with the request.
If it's an on-going reveal, often they'll update re-run the update until all tokens are minted.
68/ Generally this has worked really well so far, and for most collections, NFTNerds already has the rarity data within minutes of the metadata being unveiled (and certainly well before people have started to update their metadata on OpenSea!).
This is great for sniping.
69/ However, it's clear to me that the team is forward-thinking too, and are seeking to automate and / or ease the process of obtaining rarity data as they build out the tool.
As part of this, they're currently testing a "Sync Metadata" option for users.
70/ This will, I understand, be released more widely in due course, but for now enables a user to request a one-time refresh of a collection's metadata (if, for some reason, NFTNerds doesn't already have it!).
It'll look a little like this on the collection page:
71/ In terms of rarities, it's also worth noting that - where using its own rarity algorithm - NFTNerds offers options to allow you to enable / disable:
🌟 Trait Normalisation
🌟 Trait Count
Both are enabled by default, but it's good to have the option to tweak!
72/ So that's rarity. Now for the sniping! How does this work with NFTNerds? Well there's a couple of key ways I've found to snipe using the tool:
🌟 Automatic Sniping via Firehose Alerts
🌟 Manual Sniping via Listings Feed (w/ Filters)
73/ Starting with the Automatic Sniping...
We mentioned earlier that NFTNerds allows you to set "Alerts" in the Firehose view.
This allows you to select a selection, select a minimum rarity you want to obtain, a maximum price.
If NFTNerds finds it, it'll alert you.
74/ However, not only does NFTNerds alert you of any new listing that meets your criteria...
It automatically starts a quick-buy MetaMask transaction there and then. All you need to do is click "Confirm" in MetaMask.
It'll also bring up an overview of the relevant token.
75/ This is great as it will be infinitely faster than anyone looking for listings manually, and with a quick trigger finger to click "Confirm" and high gas (which we'll talk about in a moment), you're putting yourself at a huge advantage in picking up deals.
76/ I've also got to give it to the NFTNerds team for the emphasis they put on SAFETY in this process.
In particular:
*1* You'll see the warning in the screenshot above asking you to check the price in MetaMask. This is to avoid you being caught out by a common OpenSea scam.
77/ In case you're unaware, this is a scam whereby an item is listed at a very high price, and then the owner lowers that price to a low, too good to be true price.
They'll then cancel that low price, taking the listing back to the original high price.
78/ However, if a would-be sniper or opportunist tries to buy at the lower price in the meantime, by the time they start the TX, that low listing may be cancelled and MetaMask may now show the original (higher) price.
If you're not careful and you accept the TX, you'll lose out.
79/ However, not only does NFTNerds provide a warning to check, it'll also do what it can to identify these scams.
If there's a price change, that'll be shown in your token overview in bold, red. That listing will be removed from future finds if the difference is significant!
80/ This feature is absolutely huge, and it's a little bit puzzling that a similar solution hasn't already been implemented by OpenSea!
Whilst you should still always be cautious, it also provides some peace of mind when you're sniping with a twitchy trigger finger! 🔫
81/ Now whilst we're on the subject of sniping "automatically" with NFTNerds, it's probably worth talking about NFTNerds' gas presets, and pending TX tracking features.
These are both features of the tool that'll vastly increase your chances of winning a contested snipe!
82/ Let's start with gas presets. You might have noticed that the bottom of the NFTNerds UI has the little bar shown below.
🌟 The first three "Slow", "Medium", "Fast" are based on Etherscan suggestions
🌟 The ⚡is "Insane" - is 20% higher than fast
🌟 The ⚙️ is "Custom"
83/ It's generally useful to know what gas you'll need to push your transaction through at any one time, especially if you're sniping.
If you click one of these, any TX created via NFTNerds will automatically use that level of gas, saving you from having to set it in MetaMask.
84/ This is especially useful when sniping, where - especially if it's likely other people will be competing for the snipe - you'll want to use at least the ⚡ setting, and perhaps your own custom gas setting, to ensure that Ethereum's miners decide to take your TX first.
85/ Let's run through the custom settings, shown below:
🌟 Value: Set your own gas value. You might want to use something like BlockNative's Gas Estimator for this.
🌟 Fast + Gwei: Uses fast gas ➕ a set gwei amount
🌟 Fast + %: Uses fast gas ➕ a % of that fast gas
86/ Your approach here will often depend on how much gas you're willing to pay, and how much gas anyone competing with you appears to be paying.
How can you check the latter point? Usually we'd use Etherscan to check a competitor's TXs, but NFTNerds has our back here.
87/ I mentioned before that - when sniping a listing - NFTNerds brings up a token overview, and as part of that, there's a "Pending TX" element.
Here's the magic...NFTNerds will tell you if anyone else has submitted a TX for that item, and what gas they're using.
Example ⬇
88/
❓ How does this work? ❓
NFTNerds tracks the Ethereum "mempool".
This is kinda like TX purgatory where all pending transactions go before they are picked up by a miner and let into TX heaven (i.e. a block on Ethereum).
These are shown as "Pending" on Etherscan.
89/
❓ Why does this matter? ❓
If you can see what other transactions are competing for the same NFT as you, you can speed up your gas in MetaMask (if lower than another pending TX), and hopefully have yours mined first.
If you lose out, you know what gas to use next time.
90/ So hopefully as you can see, this is a HUGELY powerful feature and gives you a really big advantage over other people.
As I say - whilst NFTNerds says it's not really a sniping tool - it sure as hell has the tools needed to make it one! ❤️
91/ So now we've been over how NFTTools gives you the tools to automate much of the sniping process. What if you want to do it manually?
92/ I won't go into too much detail here, but you can manually snipe specific NFTs you're looking for using a combination of:
(1) the Collection page
(2) filters for collection rarity / price / traits
(3) gas presets
(4) the quick-buy button
93/ Sniping by a specific trait is often a winning play (as there may be less people looking for that specific trait), and so by filtering lists to show only the trait you're looking for, at a certain price, you can manually slam "Buy" the moment one shows up in Listings.
94/ Hopefully this has been useful to provide a whistle-stop tour of the key features on NFTNerds! But what about membership options? How much does this all cost?
Honestly, I find NFTNerds to be one of ⭐ the best value for money tools ⭐ in the NFT space at the moment.
95/ Whilst you can check out many of the features above for free, the rate at which the data on each of the pages updates is much slower.
It'll give you an idea of how it all works, but won't necessarily be too useful for sniping.
96/ By upgrading to NFTNerds premium offering, you get near-instant data, and a number of the features we've discussed above.
I've shamelessly copied from their Discord FAQ below, for an overview of these features!
97/ In order to access "Premium" - you have a couple of options. Subscription or Genesis Pass.
You can currently buy subscriptions as follows:
🌟 0.15 ETH for 1 month
🌟 0.5 ETH for 6 months
A week ago, you could've nabbed 6 months for 0.25 ETH which was an absolute STEAL.
98/ To do so, you simply need to click the banner that appears at the top of the tool, once you've logged in. For example, if you go to any "Collection" page, you'll see this:
99/ If you're a whale, you might instead wish to go for lifetime access, by acquiring one of the NFTNerds "Genesis" passes on OpenSea.
The link is below, for reference, and the current floor at time of writing is 5.45 ETH.
bit.ly/nftnerdsgenesis
100/ Having the Genesis Pass will also give you early access to some of the future features developed by the team, and a special Discord role!
Talking about features, the team is very quick to develop the tool, and more features are on the way (see below extract from Discord!)
101/ From my experience, the team is absolutely lovely and they're really quick to consider - and often implement - quality of life features in the tool.
There is a suggestions channel in the Discord, where the developers will often consider new feature requests!
102/ The Developers are also keen to ensure their community are properly educated as to how best to use the tool, and any risks that come along with it.
If you have the time, I'd strongly recommend checking out the "Academy" section of their Discord.
103/ This includes lots of helpful tips about how to use the tools, how they work in practice, and any key points you need to be aware of.
Well worth checking out if you're tempted to buy, as (together with this guide!) it'll provide you with a good overview of what you'll get.
104/ Generally, NFTNerds is probably the tool that I now use most as part of my NFT trading, and it's been absolutely invaluable to me over the past month or so.
Honestly, you must decide whether it's right for you, but I certainly can highly recommend it!
105/ I've set out below a screenshots of some recent flips I've been able to make on just one collection, and you can find plenty more in the "profit-sharing" channel in their Discord.
There's multiple posts there on a daily basis, and just one flip can cover the tool's cost.
106/ Hopefully all of the above has been useful.
This has by far been my biggest Alpha Always guide yet, and as always, I'm always keen to hear any feedback!
Let me know if this was useful / what I could do better! Also, feel free to DM me and I'll help where I can.
107/ Until next time - wishing you guys all the wins in the world, and thanks as always for taking the time to read through!
