Turning 30: Reflections on my 20s

I turn 30 today. What I wish I knew at 20:

Don't go big or go home. Just go.

Sleep is the root of everything. It unlocks everything else (motivation, productivity, happiness, etc.)

The loudest are the most insecure.

You don't need a co-founder or a network. You can change the world with your keyboard.

Quit sugar. Quit alcohol. Quit cigarettes.

Happiness comes from creation, not consumption.

If you're stuck, achieve something very small. If you're really stuck, throw away everything and restart in a new country with a new job.

Avoid negative people until they fix themselves.

If you need a beer or a cigarette to hang out with people, you are not confident with your public image.

Your negative feelings signal it's time to change something important.

There is no bad or good, it's all stories you tell yourself.

Physical ownership is stressful because things break.

Overthinking kills more projects than inaction.

To build any habit, do it daily.

If you don't have time today, you won't have it tomorrow.

Walk barefoot.

There's a monkey in your head that prefers: - Sugar over vegetables - Netflix over the side project - A beer instead of a workout Outsmart him.

Learn the basics of marketing, psychology, and sociobiology.

Be comfortable being uncomfortable.

Get married.

"You're doing well" is worth a thousand of advice.

Be kind.

The less needy you are, the healthier your relationships. A happy couple is two happy people.

Pay your taxes.

Don't expect anything from anyone.

Call your parents and friends.

Work out every day.

If you don't know what you're talented for, observe your behavior when your attention is elsewhere: - What do you do in video games? - What did you do obsessively as an 8-year-old kid?

Life's short—we're all gone at the end. It's just about enjoying the journey.

Show up every day and don't quit.
