1/11 Daszak, the ousted head of EcoHealth Alliance, sued its board in Nov 2025 saying he is "broke" after being fired.
The court dismissed the case on 28 Jul 2026 and he has appealed.
I read the 71 filings and EHA's tax returns. What the record shows, in a 🧵
2/11 On the recording he made of his firing call (6 Jan 2025): "We don't have savings. We don't have commercial. We don't have stock accounts... This is it. This is all I've ever had."
His sworn complaint says that he "remains unemployed and is now poor."
3/11 EHA's Form 990s show $6.15 million of reported pay to Daszak over his last 16 years (2009-10 to 2024-25), $4.38 million of it in the last ten. Before tax.
Every year from the filed Schedule J, in the table.

4/11 His calendar, released by Congress, shows he sold his old house on 7 Aug 2015 for $445K (bought 2001 for $294K) and closed on a grand 1908 colonial revival villa a few miles away 5 days later.
Purchase price: $665,000, for a luxurious Currier & Ives style pile, just like the one below.
5/11 From the original listing:
[..] a gracious circa 1908 colonial revival style home [..] situated on almost 2 acres of bucolic property with stone walls, patios, sunken English garden & mature landscaping [..]. Live "Currier & Ives" setting.
6/11 The villa is now estimated at $1.5-1.65M.
On typical mortgage terms, he would hold roughly $1.2M of equity on his present home.
His own words: "we have to put the house on the market" because, he says, he is broke.

7/11 Beyond enjoying his lordly estate, he is a keen skier.
His calendar logs skiing every winter since 2010: Belleayre (season passes), Hunter, Whiteface, Gore, Killington, Whistler.
On the firing call he says it is snowing. Shapiro answers: "maybe a good day to go skiing." Then fires him. 😜
8/11 He also says he has no money for retirement:
"no job, no backup plan, no savings, no pension, and a mortgage."
EHA's Form 990s imply at least $428k of pension plan, including at least $348k as EHA employer's contribution.

9/11 My reading:
With $6.15M of pay since 2009, and a grand colonial revival villa not far from his favourite ski resorts, the 'I'm broke, no savings, no pension' song looks like crude opportunism.
The board's stated reason of "loss of confidence" came too late.
