/11 Diving into the job market after 25+ years of entrepreneurship has been a rude awakening. You might wonder why. After a lifetime of independence, it's disheartening to feel like my experience has no value to corporates. 😔 #JobHunt #ExperienceMatters #JobSearch #Entrepreneur

/11 Ghosting candidates is rampant and disrespectful. Communication should be a 2-way street. Here are some stats: Since Feb 1, I've applied for 69 positions across 4 countries. Only 1 interview request, which was postponed then ghosted. A whopping 39.1% of companies 👻 me.

/11 And it varies by country. Germany seems better at replying to candidates with a 20.9% ghosting rate. The Philippines? A shocking 81.3%. 🌍#GlobalJobMarket

/11 What's more, rejection reasons are often unclear if not completely missing. Companies, be specific and help candidates improve. 📝 #RejectionReasons #Feedback

/11 You might think platforms like Indeed and LinkedIn would help. Wrong. They're not performing as advertised -https://www.reddit.com/r/recruitinghell/comments/r4e6rh/the_ugly_truth_of_indeed_an_hr_viewpoint/. 🤔 #JobPlatforms #Recruiting

/11 I’ve customized my CVs and cover letters to highlight keywords and maximize fit with the job posting. I’ve applied to moonshot positions and to positions in industries that are well within my experience and capabilities. Still the same, still 👻.

/11 And, yes, I’ve also engaged headhunters with equally zero results in terms of getting to the next step beyond applications. 🤷‍♀️ Is my work experience really that difficult to parse?

/11 I imagine a lot of this is probably down to the Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). They're the gatekeepers, but they're not foolproof. They disadvantage those who aren't tech-savvy and don't understand that their CVs aren't being read by actual people. 🖥️ #ATS #TechGap

/11 Job descriptions can vary wildly and can be confusing. My definition of "Business Development" was literally building and developing companies, turns out most of the market uses it to define a sales position. My friends over at https://www.jobreel.com are working on a fix.

/11 The omission of salary information in job postings creates unnecessary ambiguity for applicants and hampers the matching process, worsened by applications that expect the candidate to explicitly state their salary expectations. Why is this a thing?

/11 So where's the human touch in recruitment? Companies claim to value 'passion for purpose,' but their actions say otherwise. Lots of attention is paid to the UX/UI on the front end but none for the people that you would want to work with you?
