Typefully is fantastic and way too cheap for what you get.
Weโve tried many alternatives at @framer but nothing beats it. If youโre still tweeting from Twitter youโre wasting time.

๐ ๏ธ ๐ ๏ธ #Avalanche Banff 7 is out: github.com/ava-labs/avalanchego/releases/tag/v1.9.7 ๐ ๏ธ ๐ ๏ธ
This version (v1.9.7) is backwards compatible to v1.9.0. It is optional but recommended.
๐ Release Focus: Dynamic State Syncing Support + Improved Chit Handling + NAT-PMP Fixes
1/ ๐ง VM Interface Update (v21 -> v22) ๐ง
To support Dynamic State Syncing, we had to make some small tweaks to the VM interface. If you are running a Custom VM, you'll need to update to VM@v22.
Here is the subnet-evm release: github.com/ava-labs/subnet-evm/releases/tag/v0.4.8
2/ ๐ง Breaking Config Changes ๐ง
If you run a node, make sure to checkout the config changes in Banff 7 (ESPECIALLY "--PLUGIN-DIR"):
3/ Dynamic State Syncing Support
Banff 7 adds a new sync mode to AvalancheGo (in addition to the existing "bootstrapping" and "normal" modes) where a node will perform consensus on a blockchain but not respond/vote on incoming queries.
So.....why would you want that? ๐ค
4/ Dynamic State Syncing Support (cont.)
This new mode allows a node to process blocks at tip and, usefully, update the state root (which is in each block) it is syncing.
This capability Is HUGE because other nodes need to retain less historical data to enable state syncing.
5/ Dynamic State Syncing Support (cont.)
If nodes can't update the state they are syncing, other nodes need to keep at least as many historical roots as it would take to sync the curr. state (otherwise nodes would need to restart when the state they wanted was no longer around).
6/ Dynamic State Syncing Support (cont.)
Lastly, nodes don't respond to queries during this time because they are not able to properly validate the blocks they are processing (they are still missing some state -> the state they are syncing).
7/ Dynamic State Syncing Support (cont.)
This new mode is not yet utilized on any VMs within Avalanche but will be used on the X-Chain/P-Chain/Custom VMs/etc to reduce the burden of storing historical state on validators and to make syncing faster.
8/ Improved Chit Handling
In Banff 7, we now apply votes for the accepted frontier even if a query fails (which would otherwise just be discarded).
This tweak improves consensus performance if there is network instability (when multiple items are in the pending frontier).
9/ NAT-PMP Fixes
Banff 7 includes some fixes to AvalancheGo NAT Traversal that should significantly improve the node's ability to find its dial-able address.
Shoutout to @stephenbuttolph for digging in here ๐
