As Q2 winds down, let's dive into what's changed and why!

Tl;dr: the Runiverse is about to get a big upgrade, and you'll be playing early in Q3.



So what's with the delay?

We've been working hard to secure a partnership that will be transformative to the release and success of Forgotten Runiverse. This has made us hold back on publishing a build until we all managed to sign on the dotted line. (which has now been done!)

Our Q1 event New Foundations has been finished for months and we saw great feedback about its new features in our closed playtest this March.

Our Q2 build, Echoes of the Past is wrapping up development and is in the QA process.

As part of our partnership, we're adding a few new features that will improve your on-chain experience, and have decided to combine our Q1 and Q2 builds along with those new features into a single, much richer experience.

You'll have house building, a proper journal and quest system, improved chat, access to dungeons, and new interior decoration systems along with new spells, regions, items, and enemies.

So WEN? Player-owned plots with fully upgraded buildings are essential for reaching the highest tiers of Specializations and Skills. Your land could be the cornerstone of epic adventures. 🏰



Managing your plot is an ongoing commitment!

Landownership in the Runiverse is a responsibility that rewards active engagement. Manage upkeep & issue building permits. Neglect it & you risk missing out on its benefits.

This ensures active players get rewards from their land! 👑



One of the biggest perks of owning a plot is the ability to rent out parts of it. You can parcel out your land to other players, who can then build on it.

You can add administrators, give out building permits, and even collect maintenance fees from those renting your land. 🤝



Treasuries, Forges, Mage Halls, and more!

The Runiverse offers a variety of specialized buildings, each with its own set of benefits and functionalities. Your plot can host any of these, making it a diverse and dynamic space. 🏰



And of course, you can even build your own living space in a serene location near Dream Master's Lake, if you wish. 🧙

Decorate your house with a variety of trinkets and relics from your adventures the. Kick your feet up on the sofa and cool off with a Kobold Koolaid. 🍺

For the Beta release this year, you’ll have access to over 36 biomes across 76 square kilometers of the world. But that’s just the ‘known’ world. The rest has been - you guessed it - forgotten.



After the game enters public open beta, we’ll continue to update with new stories and to release new regions of the game to explore and build within.



Each region can be explored to discover its unique topography, enemies, and resources. To traverse the massive world, a network of City Stones can be built by players on plots throughout the Runiverse.



After launch, we’ll gradually introduce more areas to expand the world and the stories you’ll be able to experience within it. Until then, here’s a glimpse at some of the concept art for the world we’re building for you all.

Neighborhoods have unique layouts and player owned plots, letting you all take part in shaping the Forgotten Runiverse together with us.



To authentically capture the essence of an expansive metropolis without making players traverse an enormous overworld for each city, we've divided cities into individual neighborhoods.

We encourage players to creatively cooperate in making unique experiences within their districts! Imagine being able to create a neighborhood together with your guild, customizing it to solidify your legacy in the Forgotten Runiverse.

And these neighborhoods are instanced, which lets us easily scale the game's development!

We could add new NPC districts with neighborhoods, allowing cities to have early game content at first and later add higher level content seamlessly.

Cities have been getting some love and polish. Each city's architecture is unique and allows you to explore a variety of neighborhoods. Each neighborhood is a self-contained instance within the larger city.



Neighborhoods will allow us to continue to grow and expand cities as new content is released over time. This ensures that cities will always be relevant to your gameplay experience.



The team has also been making great progress with the myriad battle scenes throughout the world. There will be unique scenes for every landmark, dungeon, and region in the world.



Alongside the battle scenes, we've been working to expand the types of enemies you'll face. Each enemy belongs to a 'family' that allows us to align their traits across a set of basic, elite, and boss enemies.



Each skill you'll use in battle will also have unique artwork to communicate your progress, power, and the impact the skill has.



Skills will be able to inflict status effects depending on their type and strength - we've got a ton of artwork coming together to make sure each status is understandable with a quick glance.



And of course, we're making sure that enemy abilities are interesting and relevant to keep battle exciting!



Your rewards from battle will let you craft some pretty cool decorations to customize your House into the perfect home for your Wizard.









To find the really great rewards, you'll want to delve deep into the dungeons of the Runiverse.



Of course, game development's not all just pretty pictures! The level design and programming team have been hard at work testing and defining collision for objects and environments.



And the design team has been running simulation after simulation to refine our economy's design in preparation for releasing our whitepaper.
