A story in 2 parts :
- Web2 brands have arrived in mass and they choose #ethereum over #solana or others
- Web2 brands definitely onboard new people as they have +50% of fresh wallets minting their collection

The first good news is that mass adoption is ongoing!

Here is the list of 100 web2 brands I've analyzed which have either already done their drop or have publicly announced it.

You know all these brands and they have an insane reach with millions each

Meaning that
- More and more people are exposed to NFT
- NFT isn't just a degen thing anymore, all serious companies have plans to use it
- It creates a massive demand from these companies to hire people with experience in the space, ie YOU 🙂

The only cloud on the horizon is #Solana adoption rate by these companies : the only 2 we've had are @tomorrowlandnft and @coachella

Even #Tezos and #Polygon have performed better.
But why does it matter at the end ?

Because web2 brands do onboard new people to NFTs!

@LACOSTE and @adidasoriginals actually got +60% of their mint from wallets which have less than 5 tx

Even burner wallets from web3 community have more than 5tx, so we can consider these are new people's wallets

Of course some web2 brands targeted the web3 audience as their got-to-market strategy and succeeded in doing this.

For example @TIME or @budweiserusa had minters whose wallets had high number of tx, and even 45% with >200 tx for TIME

But the majority of these projects have more than 50% of minting wallets with less than 5tx since their creation.

So what can we do to solve it ?

The Solana ecosystem has reached a state of maturity that can rival with ETH, we now have all the tools and support to embrace their on-boarding: solid marketplaces, WL management, Treasury management, Dynamic NFTs, Lending/Borrowing, etc.

I haven't seen many ambitious and successful web2 implementation yet in web3 (prob except @Nike)

And I'm sure that the Solana blockchain can actually unlock more potential that web2 brands haven't seen yet due to ETH constraints

Web2 brands criteria are pretty basic for now:
- eco-friendly
- volume of users
- sustainability of the chain (= of their investment)

And Solana ticks them all, plus the low fees and the flexibility it creates

There are so many things to be done for @solana but hope to see this getting support from
- @SolanaFndn cc @Austin_Federa
- VCs like @SOLBigBrain ventures
- All builders like @gaius1337 @0xMert_ @PrimitiveMoney etc.
- The overall #SolNFT community to welcome new people

Then it will just be a matter of education all these newcomers, and you know where to redirect them 😛

Many scams in the space which are not always easy to spot, full list below

TLDR:
-Never click on links you’re not 100% sure and use an alternative communication channel to confirm
-Only use FFF and Yawww websites for OTC trades

1/ NFT airdrop

An NFT just lands in your wallet and claims to be linked to a collection you own.

The scam is with the link in the description, it could either
-get you to a website with a wallet drainer
-download some malware to get your discord token access

This is one you will surely encounter so always check on the projects socials if there has been an airdrop for holders.

Then if they confirm there hasn’t been any airdrop, don’t click on the link and just burn this NFT with @solincinerator

2/ Malicious links in DM

You’ll receive many DMs on Twitter or Discord and some might be scams, most of them are meant to get access to your discord account token.

This token is stored on your computer and it can bypass the 2FA security if it’s in their hands.

Some links might also redirect you to fake mint pages with wallet drainer.

Don’t click any links in your DMs, ever. If you want to join an early project, ask for a twitter username and look for it directly on twitter or make sure to trust the source.

3/QR codes as verification in Discord server

When joining a fresh new server thinking it’s alpha, it can also be a scam project.

You’ll see it when the verification system is a QR code that you need to scan to get access.

Don’t do it !

It’s the same as the above, it will aim to get your Discord access token.

Report the server and leave it.

4/ Fake Discord duplicate

Fake discords usually use the previous scam, but they can also go further than this.

They will replicate a hyped project and make you think that you’re in the right one, same channels name and structure, same names, same announcements, etc.

Once it gets closer to the mint date, they will post the mint link with a wallet drainer.

It requires a significant time investment from the scammers team so it’s not very common but look for inconsistencies

As much as you can, join discord servers from the official twitter page and make sure you trust the source of the link.

If not sure, share your doubts in public channels you're in and people will he (that's the alternative channel of confirmation)

5/ Discord server or Twitter hack

Unfortunately a consequence of the above: a project team member gets its Discord and/or Twitter account hacked.

The hacked team member will suddenly announce a stealth mint and will drop a fake mint link with wallet drainer

Never click any suspicious links like this (they will usually rush you to mint) and double confirm if the mint is true

If you do, always check the tx and wait that if fully loads to see the balance change, this is a typical example of a wallet drainer :

6/ OTC trade fake link

This a tricky one as we used to have a Yawww link in the past.

As a reminder: YOU DON'T NEED A LINK ANYMORE TO TRADE ON @FamousFoxFed or @YawwwNFT

You just need to log in on their official website and the trade offer will be there. Or just initiate it by yourself.

So don’t click on OTC trade links anymore, there is no reason to do it.

7/ OTC trade fake middleman

This is the most common scam around, they will contact you in DM, even if you don’t have any public trader offer.

They will then use whatever excuses to say that they can’t use FFF or Yawww OTC trade tool (doesn’t work, bug, etc.)

They will call for a project moderator or team member to be the middleman and will make you believe that this person can be trusted as supposed to be official.

But they actually created a fake profile duplicating the real one.

The difference is very hard to spot as they can use special characters in the Discord ID which look similar to standard characters

As soon as you hear middleman, just stop the conversation and run away.

8/ Impersonators

This is linked to the previous scam, scammers are impersonating official team members and will ask you for trades, services or whatever, even taking your WL spots XD

Use a second channel of communication to confirm if it is real or not, like the a public channel in Discord, that will solve most situations.

9/ OTC trade with devnet / testnet transaction proof

I haven’t seen around much but I experienced it once : during an OTC trade, the scammer will say that he will send you the sol first and will give you a Solscan link to the transaction.

The transaction is a real one but it happened on the blockchain testnet or devnet ! So of course you don’t receive any real fund in your main wallet and the scammer will try to reverse the situation saying that you’re scamming him!

Such an ironic play 😆

To summarize and keep in mind:

- Never click on links you’re not 100% sure and use an alternative communication channel to confirm
- Only use FFF and Yawww websites for OTC trades

If you encounter one these scams, please report it to your DAOs and communities so we can also share it to the broader NFT space and make it safer.

There are many other good PF examples and I'm not saying you should have all the projects from this list. My point is to have projects YOU are confortable holding

For example, it could be a good alternative to have less projects and being more invested per collections. Benefit is you save time in managing your PF

Or you could decide to go for NFTs<5sol as they might have more upside, or play the tokens, etc.

This is a hard time for everyone in #NFT as we're in a prolonged bear market, hitting us much harder than in Oct/Nov.

But I feel much more confident and less stressed than the last time for #SolNFT

There is no doubt about it: volume is brain dead ☠️

Even though it looks okayish in $SOL value, we're back to the average volume we saw in December when $SOL was above 200$, not good...

Meaning that if you look at it in $ value, June22 has been the worst month of volume since #SolanaNFT started to develop in August21, just to give an idea of the bear magnitude ...

As we've spread liquidity on hundreds of projects, most floors are tanking hard in $ even though some are still doing ok in sol value like @CetsOnCreck @DegenTrashPanda @DegenApeAcademy @okaybears

And it's when the tide goes out you can see who was skinny dipping!

The over leveraged collections are taking most of the hit, could be due to:
- ponzinomics like Mindfolk (floor divided by 15!) or Dragonz
- loan leverage like for Chimpions (15% of the collection was on loan)
- overpromise/underdeliver like for Defi Pirates
- etc.

Also don't forget that
- we're in summer time for EU /US and everything is quieter as people enjoy sunny weather with frens & family
- macro conditions are scary (I can tell inflation won't stop now when I see my components price)

Perfect cocktail for fear and low volume

So strong purge with most Discord servers less active (which was needed with the mint frenzy and the intense shitposting imo)

Even though I don't think we're at capitulation yet as we still see collections doing x2 at listing (and I still get some likes on Twitter 😛)

First reason is a theory of my own that cycles for NFT market are shorter than for crypto
So once Sol ranges for a few weeks, we could see another NFT rally (I can take the bets 😉 )

And that's what I wanted to highlight today, look at how things have changed in less than a year 👀

As it's a complex discussion, I'll break this thread down in 3 parts:
PART A - why is it such a threat?
PART B - what are the official solutions ?

A - THE THREAT

Botting has increased to a critical point where it becomes impossible to mint anymore, even if you're WL, or snipe on secondary.

In the last few days we've seen it developed until the network entirely stopped yesterday

@okaybears super hyped mint went ok but buying on secondary was impossible, botters had 45-60s advance before the NFT was listed on @MagicEden and 20-30s on @coralcubenft

@DeadSoulsDAO was catastrophic: mint was so much botted that it was impossible to mint even with WL.
The 2h window was too short and less than half of the WL people were able to mint. The team didn't care

@Oneira__ tried to mint but some dudes sent 4 million TPS to mint ... which entirely stopped the network, as low as 15tps ! Basically DDOS'ing the network
At least the team decided to postpone.

What this all means:
- Even if you're WL, you don't get to mint
- A single hyped mint can stop the entire blockchain

This is a killer danger for Solana and need to be taken seriously: why would any investor put M$ on developing P2E or apps if the network stops ?

How can we keep onboarding new people to the NFT ecosystem if they need to spend 50sol upfront to be equipped with bots ?
Why would any major brands partner with Sol collections if they can't get their customers to mint or buy ?

There is massive competition from L1 or L2 and we can't unsee this problem.

Unfortunately botters will always exist and I don't blame them to play with the tools they have to increase profit. So there is no need to ban it from ME or other thing, just a waste of energy

5/ I'm sure this is taken seriously by @solana team but yet to see concrete actions

I've set aside the option to increase tx fees on purpose as I still think this is the main value proposition from the bc. Going that road will just lead us to becoming another ETH chain

It will take time to implement some of the structural changes listed above. But WE as a community have a say in all this in he meantime.

Most of the projects listen to the community to make sure they sell out so let's get our voice heard

1/ End public sale
2/ Extend WL window to 24h
3/ Not oversubscribe WL
4/ Create a second tier WL for any remaining supply

7/ Support @solportio to duplicate anti-bot measure on the MP and other launchpads and MP to follow

Not everyone will support that but it needs to happen to save the ecosystem.

- they've built under the radar

The valuation of $ZION is really low at 0.8M$
Just as a point of comparison, $Creck is at 180M$ and $DUST at 15OM$

Not saying it will get there but there is definitely room for upside imo

Results are beyond my expectation and many lessons to be taken from it !

The performance is insane: x4.2 with current FP or x7.5 with FP ATH! (As of April 19th)

And this is without even considering rarity, multiple mints, and secondary plays ...

📝ASSUMPTION: you're selective with a mint plan

There are on average 10+ projects minting per day and clearly we need to be selective in advance and not just mint day by day.
Having a plan will help you focus on important WL and not spread your time everywhere

Indeed, it requires a lot of WL grinding to secure the plan but it is possible to secure a minimum with DAOs and grinding.

As I share the mints in advance, you can further optimize that ratio by adjusting your plan in the hours before mint and avoid some flops.

By doing so, I've raised that ratio to x5.4 on my own plan (55 mints vs 78), which also considers that you can't mint everything

Now imagine if you compound your profit 👀

If you properly mix flip & hold, you could have started with 15-20sol and end up with 500+ sol right now
And that's not even considering selling at the tops!

📝INSIGHT 1 : You need 15-20 sol to start

At any point in time, this amount was enough to get started and cover for any so-so mints

Investing less than 15sol will force your to flip all your first mints and will probably make you pass on strong holds

📝INSIGHT 2 : 90-95% of mints are above mint price at some point

When selecting your mints carefully, the risk to loose money is actually really low !
If you do loose liq, it might be that you panicked and got caught by your emotions.
So take a breath, hodl and chill :)

📝INSIGHT 3 : Holding is better than flipping for x2/3 profit

If you aim to flip everything for a x2 or x3 profit, you're actually lowering your potential profit vs simply holding ...

Keep in mind that holding until now gave you a minimum of x4.2

Indeed, with the WL meta, we're all limited in the number of mints, ie. capped at 1 or 2.

So if you want to compound gains, it needs to be with a mix of flipping and a larger mix of holding

📝INSIGHT 4 : Invest more heavily in conviction plays

Which brings me to the eye opener for me, the usual Pareto rule: 80% of the overall profit is made from 20% of the mints

As simple as that.

I always do the exercise upfront to highlight my most bullish projects.

Guess what, all the 10x projects were there.
I've had a hard time to sweep as I used to be cautions and worked on lowering my risk

I often get questions like, "Getting to 100 is ok, but how to go to 1000 ?" and it seems that sweeping floor for convictions is the play

📝INSIGHT 5 : Use simple TA and psychological resistance to TP

With the increasing volume, TA is becoming more and more relevant. No need to over complexify it though and keep it simple: for example MA is not really relevant, Fib can be used in specific cases, etc.

What I look at is :
- resistance from the past data plays a critical part (both in terms of support/resistance), but also the psychological ones (10, 50, 100)
- listing evolution is a very good signal
- Collection volume is the most important and is the confirmation

Of course, there are many strategies and this is just one of them which I'm being comfortable with. You might get there by testing and tweaking a few things to tailor to your style. And I hope that this post will help you grow

The DAO has just been created and I’m beyond pumped to be part of its governance council and have the trust of the senior members 🤩

The discord server was created end Aug and I joined the community early Sept when Solana NFTs pumped.

I basically learnt all the basics thanks to the members so I owe them a lot to be where I am now !

It is now a gigantic web of people with 16k in Discord and 26k on Twitter.

Many are now full time in crypto and lot of them founded or are part of NFT / Defi teams.

There are also owners of all the Blue Chips you can think of on different chains.

The beauty is that it’s been totally organic with no incentive for people to hang out, analyse projects or share knowledge. Just ppl looking to create bonds and discuss between like minded persons.

This is what a strong community looks like and extremely hard to achieve!

-How to make sure the information shared is correct and prevent any shilling ?
-How to avoid members who rugged with their project ?
-How to keep people engaged ?
-How to leverage that solid base?

And this is something never seen before : such a large DAO, in terms of size and span, with free access and incentives distributed to its members.

For example the $YAW token and $HONEY IDO ended way below their expected price. And the NFT floor price for most of these collections dumped.

But I'm being even more bullish on it now for 3 reasons

and mostly a vast majority of nobody like me !

I’ve been blessed with the cleanest Chimpion imo and this is a truly recognizable art by everyone.

Solana doesn’t reward art like it does on ETH but Chimpions have a sense of art and will try to change that by highlighting artists’ work

A good example is the work done by the founding team to create a detailed lore for each Chimpion which will then be documented in a Chimpions physical book.

Or the work done by @Katsu to animate all the Chimpions and add it to the NFT metadata.

You know immediately when members are genuine and that you feel you belong to a place. This is what the founding team @Brink_Brinker @MistyBayouNFT and Overlord succeeded to achieve before mint. I haven’t seen any fights, only constructive discussions.

It’s impossible to obtain WL in major DAOs as it’s mostly FCFS when I’m asleep !

Whereas the chances to get WL for hyped projects are much higher with the Chimps.

When you have a small group with very diverse talents such as artists, devs, lawyers, investors, project owners, etc. You know there is an enormous potential for a DAO.

And this has always been the vision from its founders: the CHIAO would take over the project.

Before moving on to the next mint plan, I wanted to share my perspective / thoughts on the market conditions as well as my bets to go through it !

The current NFT market is down, there is no doubt about that either in terms of interest (google trend) ...

We're down in volume to levels we haven't seen since end October or early December

And the interesting confirmation is that we've spread liquidity on tons of projects and collections launched since end-December, with 20+ projects launched per day, impacting the average sale price.

So these market conditions require extra caution to protect your liquidity, I learnt it the hard way in Oct-Nov

As
-there will still be moonshots
-crazy deals on bullish projects will arrive
-you want to be there when bull run restarts and it will not announce itself !

To summarize, this period is what makes you change scale or not in terms of wealth.
Everything is easy during a bull run as most mints are above floor price on listing and there are pumps every week.

So I'm trying to be in the very few succeeding in that period

Therefore my first move has been to cut exposure to all projects with unbacked staking.

Indeed we have too much liquidity locked in staking on poor projects to get random tokens in the wallet.

These projects generate token $X when you stake your NFTs which you can then trade for USDC or SOL
This has been praised everywhere with the famous "passive income"

but the issue is that 99% of these tokens are only backed by secondary royalties (and few with LP farming)

How many tweets have you seen with "My NFT brings me an average 10$ per day, this is crazy !" XD

Indeed it's great during a bull run with token liquidity fueled by secondary royalties

But as soon as the volume crashes, the liquidity to trade the token dumps drastically

... and you get stuck with low NFT price and even lower token price, waiting for the next bull run to arrive.

So protect your liquidity first and shift your wallet if needed.
I'm doing it now with a few bets in mind
