If that happens, it could also result in a lower sender score. Here's how to prevent both.

Best practices below:

1: Segment your audience into these buckets:

- Hyperactive (opened or clicked in the last 30 days)
- Active (last opened or clicked between 31-60 days)
- Disengaged (last opened or clicked between 61 - 120 days)
- Dormant (last opened or clicked more than 4 months ago)

2. Segment your audience by lifecycle stage

- Leads
- First Time Buyer
- Active Buyer
- At risk of Churn
- Churned

3. Exclude suppressed contacts from all of the segments above.

- Opt-outs
- Spam complaints
- Bounces

4. Split the audience between B2B and B2C

This is relevant in some organizations with both cohort types in the same contact database. Usually, you will want to deliver different communications to them.

What are the base audience segments that you build?

#EmailMarketing

It's free to use.

Here's how Mail-Tester works. When you go to the site, it gives you a one-time use email address. You send your test email there, and it gives you a score of 1-10 on deliverability.

It shows your HTML errors, DNS records, and blacklisting. You can get a view of the email on desktop and mobile. It's a great all-around tool for quick testing.

Mail-Tester works for every email platform (that I've experienced) except for @HubSpot.

Last year, @HubSpot started requiring that every email address you send a test to be whitelisted. HubSpot will first send a verification email to the address you want to use before allowing you to send a test email.

I had to look for Mail-Tester alternatives. I found these top ones: @GlockApps, @Mailtrap, @litmusapp, and @EmailonAcid

Although most functioned like Mail-Tester, all required a paid account, and their paid tiers were too expensive just to access the feature I wanted.

The only exception was Mailosaur https://www.linkedin.com/in/evangelinegersich/overlay/create-post/#. https://mailosaur.com/

They give you a mail server address, and you set a value for your mailbox name. It was the perfect solution to HubSpot's requirement.

Unfortunately, there's not a forever free account like Mail-Tester.

Mail-Tester allows three free tests a day. If Mailosaur can offer a similar tier, this would solve the issue with platforms like Hubspot.

Mailosaur lets you test SMS messages, which is a differentiator and worth looking at.

You can read the unrolled version of this thread here: https://typefully.com/EvieDigital/wGomKzb
